I placed an order via the McDonald's app for curbside pickup. Upon arriving at the location, I tapped the "I'm Already Here" button and began to wait. Two people that had arrived after I did received their curbside orders and mine was nowhere in sight. After waiting 15 minutes after tapping the button to say I was there, I called the restaurant to inquire about my order. I was told it would be right out. A moment later, a McDonald's employee came out with my order, and the first thing he said to me right after confirming my name was "you didn't tell us you were here". I still had the app open on my phone and tried to show him that I had, in fact, told them I arrived. He ignored me and reiterated that I did not tell them I was there because there "was no number". Once again, I tried to let him know that I had pressed the button in the app, and he only said "there was no number".
So, for using the McDonald's app, which now I know to be incredibly unreliable (I caution anyone else to just use drive-thru), I received old food and was all but called a liar by a McDonald's employee. To be fair, I've never worked in the fast food business, but I was not aware that their business model included discouraging repeat business and insulting clientele. To anyone considering this particular McDonald's, I would recommend you pick another. There are plenty others to choose from.
Edit - 1/13/25
Perhaps it's just the desire in me to believe that people will fix their mistakes, but I attempted to get lunch from this McDonald's using the app once again. Shockingly, the very same thing happened!
After all this time, not only did McDonald's not fix the issues with their app, but they response was even more insulting. The manager spoke to me as though I were a five year old. After pointing out that they already took money from my bank account for the order that they claimed didn't exist, I was told "That's not how it works. There's no order." As I write this, the charge remains on my bank account for food that I never received.
Once again, I advise anyone who dares to patronize this McDonald's to beware. The customer service I received was insulting, they make the same errors while refusing responsibility, and if this charge on my account is not reversed, they will have actually stolen my money. Ever since the store came under new ownership, the errors have multiplied and the response to said errors has become more belligerent and dismissive. If you want a McDonald's that respects you as a customer, it is...
Read moreMy family and I went to the McDonald's on 91st Cicero this past Sunday night (5-16-21) at around 8:15PM. We were coming out to grab a few ice creams. I enter the drive through and start placing my ice cream order when the guy taking my order stops me and tells me their ice cream machine is down and hasn't been working. This wasn't the first time we've been told this so I decided to try something out... We pulled the car into one of those curbside pickup spots, logged into the app, and proceeded to order 3 mcflurries and a sundae. Within 4-5 minutes, an employee brought me and my family our ice cream with no problem. I then pulled the car back into the same drive through, got up to the speaker, and again began to start my ice cream order when I was interrupted by the employee who told us their ice cream machine was down. I told the young man I was just in the drive through, was told the machine has been down for a while now, and then ordered 4 ice creams from the curbside in app order. The gentleman stumbled over his words and eventually said the machine has been on and off. I asked to speak with a manager and was then told I was speaking with supervisor "Emily". The young lady appeared to back the story of the machine working on and off that I was given by the young man. All while this conversation was going on where I was being denied the permission to purchase a food item that is advertised, my son was next to me purchasing additional ice cream in the McDonald's app on his phone. And I totally get it, its probably a hassle to have to prepare several of those, and I wasnt the slightest bit rude to anyone involved. It's just a bad business practice and not a good look for a McDonald's my family and I frequent. Do...
Read more2 weeks ago I ordered 2 hamburgers a small fry no salt and a large fry. Took forever, while at the pickup window waiting for the order, there’s no one working. One of the employees a guy, was dancing around while the others laughed. He was taunting one of the girls there and her language was unbecoming for a young woman. I’m watching this and after 5 or more minutes I’m yelling in there because the employees aren’t working, asking where’s my order. I got blank stares from everyone who looked at me, but no order. Fin, it’s been 10 or more minutes I get the order, pull out enough for the next person in line, my wife checks the order and no fries. My wife walks up to the drive-up window to tell them the fries are missing and the girl at the window tells her we have to go back through the drive-up again. So it’s 9pm we’ve been waiting for probably a half an hour total, my wife has to use the restroom and they’re closed. Woman comes to the door and says she can’t come in. Back in the drive thru, tell the girl where you order our order is missing fries. Pull up to the first window she checks the receipt, continue on. At the pickup window, they’re still screwing around and I’m told I have to pull up and they’ll bring my fries out. Car after car goes by as we wait until about 15 minutes, my poor wife was about to explode and she did getting out of the car and going up to the pickup window, telling the girl at the window what is the problem I see cars pulling away one after the other and you can’t drop some fries into the basket, they don’t take that long to cook when people are actually working. What I saw that night is not new. Our new young work force is all about them, no customer service,...
