The Auburn Taverna — Restaurant in Wyandotte

I don’t typically write reviews, however, I feel compelled to. From the moment we walked in we were taken care of. Coming into Auburn Taverna knowing it was the grand opening, we didn’t know what to expect. Every single staff member from the hostess, to the GM, the owners and our awesome waitress, Lindsey was top notch. The food was excellent and Lindsey’s service was even better. Was there a few hiccups along the way? Yes but that’s to be expected when a restaurant first opens and it’s still expected as the restaurant industry is not an easy job. Any customer coming into a newly opened restaurant on the first day expecting everything to be smoothly ran is crazy. Each employee was working hard and making sure all the customers were taken care of. We had a party of 6 and upon leaving, we were fully satisfied. We had never tried Auburn Cafe as it’s quite some distance from where we live so we thought to give Auburn Taverna a shot. The food: 10/10 the service: 10/10. You all rocked it tonight and we will definitely be back! We all left full and happy. I hope the owners and our server, Lindsey, sees this review and it encourages them to keep on keepin’ on! Not many restaurants are open on a Monday night and with us being in the restaurant industry ourselves and our restaurant also being closed on a Monday we’re constantly looking for a good restaurant to go to on Mondays and this may very well be in our top chosen places to dine. I realize they recently opened, however, there is no excuse for cold, not even Luke warm, soup. We were there 2+ hours. We ordered burgers, since that is a fool proof item. Wrong! It was also cold and so dry I had to drown it in ketchup. The server offered to make new burgers. It took over an hour to get those, so we declined. The manager offered many excuses and did apologize for all of the missteps. She said she would give us a discount for the bad food. When we got our bill there was actually an upcharge on it. We had to wait an additional 10 minutes for our bill to be corrected. Lunch shouldnt take 2+ hours. The table next to us ordered flaming cheese. The server couldnt get her lighter to light. She gave it to them it was. No flames. That was it for us. I will not be returning. I hope they resolve ALL of their issues. The interior of the restaurant...

Downtown Wyandotte, Michigan has been desperate for a delicious, authentic Greek restaurant for a very long time. The Auburn Taverna is an absolute dream come true. From the moment you walk in, it is clear (as the sign in Greek on the wall will tell you), “it is a vibe”!! The dining room is clean, spacious and open, but still inviting and cozy. The food was delicious; having both a homemade taste and feel with a fine dining presentation. The portions of food were large and very reasonably priced. The gyro sandwich was big and enough to share. The lamb chops are grilled and juicy. The dip sampler with pita appy was amazing. No detail was overlooked. We can’t wait...
