Golden Chick — Restaurant in Wylie

I recently had two consecutive disappointing experiences at Golden Chick, and unfortunately, it has left me questioning whether I'll return in the future.

My first visit was for dine-in, and despite patiently waiting for a server to take my order, I was completely ignored for a frustrating 10 minutes. The lack of attention and service made for an unpleasant start to my meal, leaving me with a negative impression of the restaurant's customer service.

Hoping for a better experience, I decided to give Golden Chick another chance and opted for the drive-thru on my second visit. Unfortunately, the disappointment continued. The person taking my order was surprisingly rude, displaying an unwarranted attitude. I was taken aback by their behavior, as I had done nothing to provoke such a response. It's disheartening to encounter such rudeness, especially when you're just trying to place a simple order.

While I have enjoyed Golden Chick's food in the past, the recent decline in customer service has made me reconsider whether it's worth enduring subpar treatment for the sake of a meal. It's my hope that Golden Chick addresses these issues promptly, as a restaurant's success is not solely based on its menu but also on the quality of service provided to its customers. This Golden Chick on 544 is one of the newer spots, and you can tell they take pride in it. My friend and I went here for a work lunch—he picked it because he loves Golden Chick, and I have to admit, the food did not disappoint. Everything was fresh, tasty, and came out quick.

What stood out the most was the manager. He came out to speak with us, checked in on how things were going, and I noticed he did the same with everyone else who walked through the door. That kind of personal attention makes a difference—you don’t always see that these days, but it creates a welcoming atmosphere right away.

The restrooms were spotless (yes, I checked, I always do 😊), and the whole place felt clean and well kept. My only small thought—no ice-cream machine here. I always thought every Golden Chick had that, but maybe this one’s different. Either way, it didn’t take away from how much we enjoyed our meal and experience. This location is one I’ll gladly come back to again.

I went to pick up dinner for my family of 6 after working a 12 hour shift. While placing my order I was told that it would be a 10 to 15 minute wait and that was no problem. I ordered a meal for $52.99 plus tax. I asked for Honey Mustard sauce to go with the 16 chicken tenders that were ordered. The cashier asked me how many I wanted and I told him 10 which seemed reasonable to me since there were 16 tenders. The shock came when I saw him add $0.45 per sauce ($4.50). I got to the window and asked why was I not receiving some sauce for free and to charge for 5 and let me pay for 5. His Manager said NO and that I had to pay for all 10.
