I was the first out of my 2 friends to order. Not only did I wait like 15-20 min AFTER my friends got their food, but I also watched everyone else in the restaurant (like 8 people, not much) get their food too even though they came WAY later. I asked the dude at the counter if my food was still coming and he said "huh? uhh give me a second," and I'm like "No problem man" and go back to the table and wait. After waiting another 10 - 15 minutes I spot them (from my seat, I wasn't trying to be nosy) in the kitchen not doing anything whatsoever. I go back and the guy is like "Nah I definitely put your order on the table." I'm like "Uhhhh?" Because I witnessed my two friends get their orders, but the guy never came back for mine. Now he's saying this as if I an entire peppered cheesesteak and side of queso fries was hiding under my napkin. I'm not gonna go into too much detail of what happened but apparently he just accidently gave my order to my buddy instead of me (we ordered almost the same thing). This obviously means that is was his order missing, not mine What makes this so bad is that they were obviously bothered and visibly didn't believe me like I was trying to run a scam on them for free food, but here me out: Everything about my and my friend's order was the same, except I also got some queso (I didn't find this out until WAY after) but either way, a whole order is missing and I want what I paid $20 for, man... then they were like "I guess we'll make another one." (By "another one" I mean an order of a peppered cheesesteak and a side of queso fries) So I'm like "Thanks, I appreciate y'all" (they ignore me and walk off) and I go back to my table. Keep in mind my friends have been done with their meals for a while now (no big deal, we had time to kill). Later he comes out with the sorriest looking, meat-lacking (when I say meat-lacking, I mean you can see the BOTTOM OF THE BREAD), lackluster sandwich I had seen in years. I wanna be clear and say I've been here multiple times and the sandwiches are never a problem. In fact, I always love them. This time it was clear that I annoyed these guys by just wanting to eat something THAT I PAID FOR. That wasn't even the worst part. The MGR (I think, not sure) walked out with some fries (they weren't queso fries, they were regular fries, I repeat REGULAR FRIES...this means no queso AND SMALLER) and said, "You're queso's right there," and pointed to my friend's plate and left........keep in mind that I really don't care about sharing queso with my friend, but by the time I FINALLY got my food, this queso that he pointed to was already half gone, room temp. and solidified...any fry that I tried to dip in there just crumbled like it was being pushed against a wall. I could tell these guys didn't wanna talk to me anymore so I just left it at that and ate my food, but holy...for me to pay like $20 with a tip and then wait that long only to end up with the sorriest meal ever...I already know in their eyes I'm probably just another annoying customer who seemingly just wants free food. I would say I'm not coming back again but usually my experience here is good. This was just an unfortunate situation but it really says numbers on how they'll deal with...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant as a large group with kids, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The service was awful from the moment we arrived. The ambience was unclean, the tables were slimy, and there was no one at the entrance to greet us. Despite our concerns, we decided to stay because the kids were hungry. There was no dedicated waiter; only two people were working, handling everything from cooking to serving. No one even offered us water. When they finally took our BBQ order, it took more than an hour to arrive. The food quality was extremely poor, both the chicken and beef kebabs had an unpleasant smell. The falafel and shawarmas tasted terrible. The kids had ordered burgers, shawarmas, and Philly cheesesteaks, none of which were enjoyable. Even the fountain drinks were flat and tasteless. Most of the kids couldn’t even finish their food due to the bad taste and quality. It was Eid day, and despite the occasion, their service and overall hospitality were appalling. We were the only large group there, and aside from us, only 3-4 people were seated at another table. The restaurant was not busy at all, yet they still had the audacity to charge us $400 for such a poor experience. So disappointing and definitely...
Read moreVisiting the Jaffa Joint, I walked into an unexpected but delightful surprise. I've been going to the Cheesteak House for years and happy to see the all the original menu items, the Poblano cheesteak has always my favorite! The newer incarnation (pun intended) was delicious and satisfying. Curious about the new offerings, I tried the spicy chicken kabob and loved it. Also, the rice served with the dish was simply amazing...a perfect blend of spices that pops and had or order extra to take home to share. I took home some vegetarian mainstays: Humus, falafel, rice, and flat bread. To some these are minor details, but to others, more critical, a good humus can be hard to find (i.e. nothing from a store comes close). Their humus was excellent and speaks the overall care put into the food, starting with the basics. I'll be back to try the other bbq offerings. It's exiting that we now have this Arabic/Mediterranean choice so close and convenient. It's still a little new and they are smoothing things out, but, perhaps most importantly, the owners/staff are really friendly, caring, and eager to be a part of the community here. Give it a try and tell them...
