I never write reviews but, I just can't ignore the current state of the Wylie Whataburger. To say that I was elated to have a Whataburger in Wylie is an understatement. I was driving to Murphy or Sachse to get my fix on a regular basis. Once I saw the sign that the Whataburger was going in, it only confirmed how PERFECT Wylie is.
Shortly after it opened I did a curbside pick-up (due to COVID). The order was wrong. I chalked it up to the staff being new as was the whole curbside pick-up thing. Just 1 week later I was needing my fix. I made the HUGE mistake of trying the drive-thru. OMG! Never again. The wait was ridiculous. I think that they thought they were doing me a favor by walking my order back to me in the line. The line that I had 3 other cars in front of me which had me locked in.
I actually stopped going for a couple of weeks because it was just such a letdown. Still, every time I would drive by, I would look at the MASSIVE drive-thru line. Even on non-peak hours. All I could think of is, "what could they possibly be doing that would cause that kind of a back up"?
This last Sunday (3/14/2021) I needed to grab a fast lunch for my daughters as we jetted off for softball practice. Their initial request was Chick-fil-a. However, being it was a Sunday, that was a no-go. Since Whataburger is right next door we swung through...the drive-thru....why? 3 PM on a Sunday, 5 cars in the drive-thru, total standstill. Un-freaking-believable! We finally get to the order window and we were handed our three drinks that are covered in soda down the side of the cup. Not 1, not 2, ALL THREE. How could you pour a drink, knowing you dribbled it down the side of the cup and then KNOWINGLY had it to a customer?!
I know that this was a long review. I write it with the hopes that somebody in the Whataburger chain-of-command reads it and takes action with this particular store. I eat Whataburger pretty much everywhere I can find one. It is my go-to burger joint due to the variety of burgers that I can create and the quality of the food. This is NOT how we run restaurants in Wylie.
I think what makes their poor service and management even more glaringly obvious is the fact that they are in the same parking lot as Chick-fil-a. A restaurant that has MASTERED the art of the drive-thru and customer service.
Whataburger management: offer someone over at Chick-Fil-A a free Whataburger if they will come over and explain what customer service is and how to run a restaurant. Because, take it from a 20-year Wylie resident, YOU ARE FAILING...
Read moreThis is a second review: Please shut this location down or replace its management. Food quality is subpar, staff can't get an order right to save their life, and this location gives the Whataburger brand a bad name. I specifically requested 2 spicy ketchups, but I got 0. It's right there on the receipt. How do you get it wrong? Also, the cheese on the burger looks like plastic once again and is not even melted.
Honestly, I hate myself for giving this location another chance. It's obvious they have no inventing of improving, but are simply taking advantage of their location to get the one-time-only customers whose opinions of Whataburger will be permanently tarnished by this experience.
Previous review.: Honestly, Whataburger Corporate should shut this location down. It's a blemish on the Whataburger name. I've never had a good experience here and I generally go out of my way to visit the Murphy location, just to avoid this one. However, my friends wanted to stop in Saturday night, so I joined them... much to my dismay. We ordered dine-in... they brought the food out in bags instead of on trays. They didn't ask what condiments we wanted, so we had to ask for extras and left behind the stuff we didn't request. The poor girl seemed afraid of human interaction and didn't even speak when delivering the food, when I asked for ketchup, or when she brought it out. I ordered a Bacon cheeseburger combo and it came out with no bacon. The cheese wasn't even melted, and the burger tasted cold even though we dined in the restaurant. Maybe it wasn't cooked well or maybe the oversized chunk of ice-cold lettuce they put on it just made it seem that way. The buns weren't warm and didn't seem very fresh. I also gave it 2 stars for atmosphere because there were a bunch of loud, unsupervised teenagers in there, though they weren't really causing any trouble. I don't really blame the restaurant for that, but it still affects the perception & experience.
Overall, another disappointing experience at...
Read moreSince I was a kid growing up here in Texas, Whataburger has been a staple in my and my family’s lives. Sadly ( and it may be just a coincidence) it seems that since Whataburger decided to sell to an out of state company and expand more of it’s stores outside of Texas, things haven’t exactly gone in a positive direction. At least in my eyes. And this time is no different. Everyone was excited that they were building a new Whataburger in closer proximity than the one we would usually frequent. In all honesty, we have been to this location several times since it’s opened. And every single time, we have had something wrong happen. So I guess the question is, why do I keep going back. So I can now say that we will not. Today was the orange and white straw that broke the camel’s back. I had a limited amount of time today to get my lunch and get back home. I even factored in the slowness they usually give getting your order ready. We ordered on the app for curbside pickup. Gave them ten minutes before I left. I get there, put my number in the app as to where I’m parked. I waited 15 minutes for someone to bring my order. The entire time I’m waiting, I had seen multiple people come in a out with no mask on. Even though the sign on the door said they were mandatory. Why put a sign on the door if you’re not going to enforce it? I see people order get their food and walk out. She brings out the food, oh I’m sorry we were waiting on the fries. Sorry not buying it. She hands me the drinks in the bag. Well unbeknownst to me, one of the lids was not on. Well guess where that drink ended up? Yep, all in my floorboard. So thank you Wylie Whataburger. You have helped assist me in deciding that I will not be back. The Whataburger that once was...
