As a family, we wanted to eat dinner at a nice restaurant that offered great food, great decor, relaxing environment, with a dash of Seattle like cuisine from its top rated restaurants it offers to those who live there. Finding such a place in the lower valley is really hard to do, being that many restaurants are mom and pop style dinners, which is totally unique and awesome in our area by the way, but, at times instead of having to drive 2 to 3 hours to experience a great like that with family becomes almost like a quick mini short vacation with all the reservations, details and organization to get everyone there at the right time. This evening we were pressed for time, and had family visiting, and wanted to take them to a great restaurant that offered the big city life restaurants had to offer, and we decided to give El Mirador a shot. We had not been here in years, and were told that the food had taken an upward shift to greatness and flavors that was worth the visit. Me being a food connoisseur and collector of flavors that tantalize the tastebuds to dance with unlimited restraint, i decided to take everyone here to have our famous family meal together. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a friendly face and smile, and followed up with express seating service which is a plus. Seeing how busy they were made my imagination race with menu options, with the help of aromas of herbs, spices, and salsa tickling my palette, I knew it was going to be a great meal. I we walked past tables and i could see the well presented plates and platters, alongside fresh made tortillas, i began to become excited of what was all on the menu, and what they had to offer for meal choices. Once seated water, and silverware were brought quickly, and drinks were ordered, and delivered with promptness as one would like. Clean tables, shinny floors, and comfortable seating made our time in choosing meals very pleasing, and the sound of hustle and bustle from their servers was quite a site to see. QUICK, FAST paced movement with precisions, and TEAM efforts and techniques amongst its hosts was like watching a well orchestrated dance on the serving floor. Salsa and chips were quickly delivered, alongside Guacamole, and Beans in abundance to fill you before the meal even got there, made our experience so far perfect. As our meal choices were taken, we began to notice the authentic decor, and the lighting was perfect, which set a comfortable ambience that set the perfect mood for a great meal. Soon the sounds of sizzling, and aroma of fresh melted cheese, and fried chiles and nopales in a rock bowl, backed up by the tantalizing smell of freshly made tortillas was unbearable, that made your heart pound with excitement to eat this well presented, and professionally made food. The food was like a treasure, as if you just staring at it, in all its beautiful colors, and aroma of spices that teased your nose, the reward for waiting, but then, the uncontrolable urge to eat it was to strong, and we all began to eat. In one moment we went from talking and laughing, to being reduce down to Ummmm's & Ohhhhhh's, Yup, the food was great!. . As we ate, and talked about all the flavors, ( and i wont lie, we taste tested each others food, which we never do, but, IT WAS SO GOOD! ), we quickly all looked at each other with the same thought, YUP, we coming here again. I must say this honestly, El Mirador is a hidden Gem in Yakima, that needs to be recognized. Thank you El Mirador, and all your hard working staff that made our visit, one to remember. Have a...
Read moreUnfamiliar with the area as I was staying at the hotel in the parking lot. Ventured to this beautiful authentic restaurant, on a busy Friday evening by myself. Rather then taking a seat in the diner, I sat at the bar. Enjoyed myself a healthy serving combination plate and margarita. The bartenders were very polite and friendly. Connecting with a gal by the name of Mary. She created a dragon fruit/pomegranate margarita that was perfect ending of my evening. The next evening my daughter's college softball team was in need of a team dinner location. I instantly thought of this place and their customer service. I went in, spoke with Carla, let her know our party size and time we were in need of. She immediately went to work, took a stroll around the restaurant. Came back and said yes, mam.. we can accommodate you out back. In the undercover outdoor seating area. It truly worked out perfect. The coaches and team were happy gals to end their day. Shout out to Mary who jumped right on in to serve our group of 20+. We really enjoyed ourself. Being outdoors, the gals were able to take a moment, glance over at the sunset. We were all satisfied leaving there. Infact, I was overcome with such great customer service, not even realizing I had actually left my debit card behind. As I mentioned above, out of town, I didn't realize my debit card was misplaced until I needed gas 3 hours away. I immediately called the restaurant as it was the last place I used my card. A gentleman answered the phone, I had asked if someone had found or returned my debit card, he looked in their safe and it was found. Tricky part being 3 hours away, this gentle soul offered to mail me my debit card. So I would of had to drive back 6 hour total out of my way. I most certainly had asked his name to give him a shout out, he says "Angel" I most definitely agree with this. I received my debit card in the mail 3 days later. I feel it's good to give recognition when deserved. This business should be honored with the employees they have. Everyone was a pure pleasure and seemed they absolutely enjoy their job. Keep up the good work. I hope management is giving back to the employees cause they most...
Read moreFood was excellent we ordered the sampler and it was enormous...but it didn't include the jalapeño poppers. I didn't even notice the omission of said poppers had it not been for my friend and co-worker - Brandy.
Unfortunately, she was really looking forward to them. The kitchen/chef should've informed the server that they could substitute the missing poppers with additional chicken wings and allow Us the opportunity to either concur or seek a different appetizer from the menu.
None-the-less, The sampler was DELICIOUS & more than ample to satisfy a Party of 2 but no complimentary Margarita nor discount was ever suggested nor offered - even when we mentioned it.
That is why I gave them 3 stars, what ever happened to "the customer is always right?" They could've given her a free appetizer coupon to use on her next visit or a cocktail.
Anyhow, as for poor sweet Brandy - she never did get those jalapeño poppers she'd been craving.
Therefore, if Management or any Staff Member for that matter from El Mirador Numero Dos (No. 2) is reading this and wanna make it right feel free...
