Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Yakima

The taste of the chicken was good and it wasn't greasy, but this was the first and last time I will be going to Popeye's unless something amazing happens! It was dinner time (5:21 was our order time on or receipt) and my husband and I went through the drive thru so we could head home after a long day. We paid and were asked to pull around to the front of the restaurant because it would be about 10 minutes until our food was ready, they had to cook more, understandable. We sit out front and we are talking and playing games on our phone's and I realize it had been awhile and we still didn't have our food, the time was now 6:03pm (easy to get lost in conversation and games) so I went inside. There were plenty of employees working, but the family in front of me and myself had watched 6 employees and a hefty/ lazy lady manager walk by the register and not say a thing. They said they had been waiting 5 minutes and no one had greeted them yet. I said try waiting 40 minutes outside and still not getting your food! (They left very upset). Finally the robust female manager does some stuff on the register and leaves to har car parked right out front to smoke (still not acknowledging me or the others at the counter) A young gal sees the front, takes off her purse and coat and starts helping the counter. I explain my situation and show my receipt but it confuses her because there is no ticket/receipt waiting for food and so I offer my receipt again and once more before I ask if she wants to take it so she can get our order together. After waiting another 10 minutes we finally get our food and I am told to have a good night. I said "we spent almost $40 and had to wait almost an hour because we were forgotten and your not going to try to make this right or apologize? The young gal asks me if I want a pie to make up for it? I was flabbergasted and shocked and told her just to throw in an extra side. She asked if I wanted to speak to the manager and I declined because she was incredibly unhelpful the first time I saw her. (I want to add the young gal was kind and it wasnt her fault, but the whole experience was soured). This was our first experience at Popeye's and I am glad I am an influencer to share my horrific experience to help save someone else's night if they can't decide where to eat. I wrote to the company with no response and I hope they fix this experience and customer service! To add insult to injury, the chicken was the only thing worth eating and that was even 40...

I'm not from the Yakima area so I do not come here very often. However, it was the last experience that marked an otherwise unique fast food experience I've had, and for a place like Popeye's it's hard to imagine getting anything better than food that's been sitting for a while before it is picked up. This was not the case in my last visit.

I placed a mobile order online since I was at work and wanted to speed things up. I ordered the blackened chicken box with two biscuits, fries, mashed potatoes and gravy. Upon arrival I was told by the cashier that the blackened chicken is cooked on order. A bit of an inconvenience since I ordered on the app, but okay. Fresh food never hurts.

I waited for about 7 minutes before the food came out. I did not order a drink and the cashier gave me a free water cup. Took advantage and got ice instead since I already had a drink in my lunch bag. I got to my vehicle and started looking into the box...

My hands were burning touching the bottom of the box! The food was super hot, so delicious and even though I burned my tongue on a few bites, it was so worth it! Not only were the side dishes amazing, but the blackened chicken deserves all the glory. It was so juicy, so soft, tender and flavorful as heck. I have never had chicken quite like this at a fast food restaurant. It tasted like actual chicken. I was in love!

I do not remember how many pieces I got but I do know that even though I was very hungry, I only ate two pieces of chicken, a bunch of fries and the mashed potates. I was very full for about 8 hours! That included the rest of my work shift. Not only did I feel better about eating chicken that wasn't greasy, but the whole experience made me excited to go back!

One thing I will say is I wish they cooked my food after placing my mobile order. I know that defeats the purpose of fresh food but since I'm always in a rush at work, it is good enough for us delivery drivers to get our food in a jiffy. Other than that, I...
