I don't write a lot of reviews, usually I do when the service is extremely terrible or extremely awesome. This place is by far the latter. My absolute biggest take away from here wasn't really about their food. A couple of weeks ago on a Sunday evening, 8 of my friends and I were driving back to Washington, DC from Harrisburg and decided to stop and get something to eat. When we walked in, the staff were friendly and immediately and easily accommodated all of us. The first thing I did was ask about a plug, as my cellphone was dying (like 15% battery left), my server went off to find out if they could plug it in for me, while I went to my car to grab my own charger.
When I came back inside, I approached who I thought was the manager (didn't realize until we were leaving later on that he was actually the owner - super nice guy) and asked about plugging in my phone. He looked in a couple places around the restaurant to see about an open outlet, to no avail. He said he would be right back, and went into the kitchen. I thought he was looking for an open plug in there. Turns out he went to grab his personal industrial looking battery/charger/car starter thing that was about as large as an Xbox controller.
Anyway, he handed it to me without hesitation and let me use it to charge my phone while I was there. He ended up leaving without asking for it back, although I did leave it with the manager on duty. He went way above what he had to. I mean seriously he could have just told me flat out no, or looked around not seen any open plugs and said sorry I can't help you, but instead he got something that belonged to him and handed over to a complete stranger. Now that is not just GREAT customer service, that's just being an awesome person. Thanks Karl!!
Anyhow, I had the sampler because I wanted to try some different things, including their AWESOME Pumpkin Pie shake that apparently had REAL pumpkin Pie in it. Seriously amazing!! I wanted more. All the food was great because it tasted like it was made from scratch, not store bought BS or frozen and then cooked. It also didn't have that overly greasy, reheated flavor that you usually get at a diner or greasy spoon kind of place. Everyone I was with absolutely loved his or her food as well. A couple of people had some Venison steaks and said they were perfect. Our server couldn't have been friendlier and the over all atmosphere was what we were looking for at the time. The pricing was pretty decent for the amount of food they give you. At any chain restaurant, the same price would barely get you a child size portion. It was well worth it.
Honestly, the only complaint anyone had after we left was how horrible it was that they weren't closer to Washington, D.C. The next time I go back north into Pennsylvania, I WILL definitely be stopping in to get some more food from them.
I definitely recommend Central Family Restaurant - if you don't at least stop in and try something, you're...

ย ย ย Read moreThe staff is very friendly and I did find it to be charming however that's where the positivity ends. The food is overpriced for what you get. The first picture is the Seafood Trio I ordered and I was looking forward to it since the dish cost $20.99. It was supposed to be shrimp, haddock, and a crab cake. As you can see from the picture, it did not live up to its expectations. That is a sad trio. Four pieces of small shrimp just placed to fill space, the small piece of haddock even more sad looking with barely much color, and the crab cake plopped on there; very poor presentation. The taste was worse; not a hint of seasoning, very bland and left me dissatisfied. For the bit of seasoning on the crab cake, the crab cake became the most seasoned of the trio. The baked potato became the star of the dish instead of the trio itself. The spaghetti my son had was drowned in tomato sauce leaving a plate of sauce when he was done and the garlic bread was less than satisfying. The cheeseburger my daughter had looked more appetizing than my $20.99 trio. With that said, take pride in your food, season it well and price down if you decide to keep your food at these standards. For 4 people and what we ordered, it was not worth $69. If I was only rating according to your staff, then you'd get a higher rating because our...
