Gift Horse Brewing Company — Restaurant in York

The review is split. The actual brewery and outdoor bar are a nice little venue and great way to enjoy craft beer, cocktails and spirits. Our experience was a sour one because the outdoor bar staff mishandled our 2nd order. Had paid up front for beers, then put card out for a tab, which I shouldn't have done granted, then I ordered one regular whiskey shot. When we were finished and ready to leave, I POINT BLANK ASKED THE BARMAN IF WE WERE SQUARE AND GOOD TO GO - HIS RESPONSE WAS YES, ALL GOOD. Then when the charge appears on our credit card finally, it included an 18% tip, which for the service we received was high. It's not worth disputing the small amount involved, but it sure as hell left a sour taste in my mouth. Things happen, when a bar is busy things can be hard to sort out, but missing an open tab after telling a customer everything is good seems like an instance where you forgo the tip and chalk it up to a missed opportunity. Not that we visit town often, but I can promise you I won't return here again, nor will I recommend people go without a warning to watch your tab closely.

Hi everyone I been going to the gift horse for a few years most know me by Bob or the leprechaun lol anyway this place is people friendly everything has always been positive and family like to me ! I always try to support small businesses because most are family owned and with that said they always try there best to keep everyone happy like you all know we all have our off days doesn't make us bad ! I always enjoy the gift horse garden for the fact its all outside where you can enjoy the beautiful weather and have a good time in a safe environment with that said I will always support the gift horse oh yeah if you haven't tried there food it is awesome especially the steam shrimp 😀 Thank you Mickey Knaper for a awesome...

Overall just ok. The beers really aren't too good, the outdoor seating I'm sure is fine outside of a pandemic, but right now they just don't have any real system at all to handle serving tables. We sat near the bar and I felt so bad for not only the guests but the bartenders too who were swamped and couldn't keep track of orders. At the one table, we watched 4 sets of guests come in, wait, and leave without being attended to once. I overheard how the bartenders poured drinks for the same table twice cause they had numbers mixed up. The slushies were hit or miss and their beer flight was not that good. I probably wouldn't come here again unless coworkers chose it for...
