Worst downtown dining experience I’ve ever had. Waited over thirty minutes for three drinks to arrive, one of those, a non alcohol pina colada, was never made at all, and instead my son had to settle for an iced tea. The clearly flustered waitress apologized endlessly, and actually lied several times as I had previously made it clear we had tickets to a show, and time was important.
We had allowed an hour and thirty minutes to enjoy what should have been a nice dinner, but instead, we only ever received two appetizers.
She explained, after nearly an hour went by, and our two brick oven pizzas still weren’t there, that the owner went on vacation, and he was the ‘guy’ who made the pizzas. At 7:05 pm, (our show began at 730), I walked by their pizza station, noting the bartender just then beginning to make ours.
I asked that they stop, take them off our check, as it would’ve then been impossible to eat with the time remaining.
The place was NOT busy; maybe 15-20 patrons indoors, a bit less outside. I watched no less than 3 couples leave, after they tired of no service at all. At one point, I counted 5 tables, from 2 to four guests each, and not one had any drinks on them, for at least ten minutes.
Yes, the place has a cool industrial look; but that becomes meaningless when it’s billed as a restaurant/bar, and they can’t deliver the goods.
It’s sad, because people in the area flock to chains, and I avoid them, choosing instead to support an independently owned restaurant. Especially so one downtown, where the city makes every attempt to draw visitors back. This place isn’t one of those worth your dollars, unless you’re...
Read moreI was trapped in York, PA 1 week for an event. Otherwise there would be no reason for me to be in York or ever go there again. The only thing that saved me was the food at the Iron Horse. By my home town, New York City standards, this restaurant ranks up there with the best. Judging by the many chain restaurants and fast food eateries in York, I could imagine that most people from this area probably don't understand what good food is and only a few would appreciate the quality of the food being produced here. From a simple pizza, which is traditional Italian style pizza from Italy, made with fresh mozzarella, san marzano tomatoes, and fresh basil leaves to their 1/2 lb. hamburgers to their double cut pork chops, which I could do without the blue cheese stuffing because the chop is so good, everything is top quality, cooked correctly and delicious! Additionally, it is all served to you in a trendy restaurant setting with walls of glass overlooking the main square in the center of downtown York, PA. The prices are extremely reasonable, which is usually a red flag for me because price usually lives right next door to quality, however the food quality was superb. If in York, this is the place to go for a good dining experience. I can't say that the service was good or I can't say that it was bad. When I go out to dinner I go to relax. If you want food fast and quick then eat at one of the fast food chains in the area or go to the pizza joint up the street where I had lunch the first day I arrived in York. I couldn't eat dinner that night because I thought I had food poisoning! If you want to have a nice dining experience, go to...

I have never here when I lived in York but was back for a reunion and I had to try it. Arrived about 1:20pm and the place was not that busy. It was neat, clean, and well-lit with large windows on the outer walls. The interior has a cool vibe and looks great. Our waitress Madison came over and got our drink orders and food orders fast. I ordered the Mortadella Cuban Sandwich. This sandwich Pork, Mortadella, Swiss Cheese, Pickles, Mustard, served with Onion Gravy. It comes with your choice of Fries or Salad. I ordered the Salad for a side. I also ordered a Miller Lite Beer for a drink. My wife ordered the Steak Salad with Mixed Greens, Tomatoes, Red Onions, Cucumbers, Gorgonzola Cheese, and Sirloin Steak with Balsamic Vinaigrette and a Caught in The Rain drink. This drink had Rumhaven, Coconut Rum, Orange, and pineapple Juice with Coconut Cream. Our drinks came out first and my Beer was ice cold, I loved it. My wife’s drink was cold and very tasty, we both loved her drink. Our food came out a short time later and my sandwich and Salad looked amazing. My wife's salad filled her entire plate. My sandwich was hot and very tasty. The Onion Gravy took it to the next level. My wife's Steak Salad was very good and the Steak was done to her liking. Our waitress Madison checked on us a bunch of times as she was on the top of things. I must give this place 5 out of 5 stars because the food was good, the service was good, and the beer was cold.
