Was a cool place to go every year here until this year. We had the pleasure of having Alexa as our server. Worst service we’ve ever had in our life.
We arrived and got wrist bands by the bouncer to show we could have alcohol. We got a table, ordered the hummus platter and a rum bucket. To which the waitress asked for our IDs, I jokingly said “isn’t what these are for?” With a smile and pointed at my wrist. And she responded cold and straight faced saying “I have to check anyways”. Pretty rudely… No problem, we hand her our IDs. Seems to go fine. We receive our food, the hummus platter was pretty bad. No drink yet, taking way too long.
After way too long, a manager comes over and asks for my ID. So the waitress had said mine looked like a fake, made us wait forever for our drink and had the manager check it.
Very annoying and weird, so I hand it over and say again jokingly but sort of annoyed at this point “she really said it looked fake?… you can scan it or give it to a cop, whatever you need to do I don’t care” To which he said nicely “no it’s fine you’re good” and smiled. We then asked if we could possibly swap our hummus platter for 2 cups of clam chowder. He said “absolutely”. Brought us our clam chowder. Our waitress returned with our rum bucket, dropped it fast and walked away without even looking at us.
She never once checked up on us to see how we were or how the food was. The clam chowder was good, have had better but wouldn’t expect top tier at this place. Go there for the music and atmosphere and drinks. And she walked by us half a dozen times to check on other tables. Not sure what her problem was with us but it was so rude and awful. She also then brought us the check without asking us if we wanted another drink .
To which I asked “can you send over that guy again”. And she did, the manager, who I said thank you to and that I’d like to tip him because our waitress was rude and bad, and that he served us more than her. He was kind and left.
Moments later our waitress Alexa returns. Drops the receipt tray from about a foot off the table and it slams down on our table top. And she says “thanks for your $5” before storming off. Obviously the manager gave her the tip. So I then found him again, said what she did. And he didn’t seem to care, he apologized but didn’t seem apologetic and was siding with the waitress. Who was complaining about us to other waitresses and gave us a side eye.
Really repulsive and immature behavior. Bad hiring. Extremely inappropriate behavior. My girlfriend and I were shocked. Just really sad Alexa would behave this way as she’s in...
Read moreOne of the worst experiences I've had in a restaurant! If I could give it 0 stars, I would. My family and I brought our guests to dinner at the Sand Dollar. I have a severe gluten intolerance and asked for the gluten free menu. I was given a paper menu that had gotten wet so that much of it was illegible. I asked for another, but there were only two and the second was just as bad as the first. When the waitress took our order, I showed her the haddock dish on the gluten free menu. I then gave her the menu, which was clearly different from the other menus. When the waitress delivered our food, my haddock had bread crumbs piled on top of it. I told her that I could not eat anything with gluten and asked her to take it back and remove it from the bill. I did not want to have the kitchen make another because I did not want to start my meal when everyone else at the table had finished. So, I asked her to just bring me a side salad, which I thought would come out immediately. After approximately 15 minutes, the salad came and it was nothing but a small pile of shredded lettuce (approximately 1 cup) with 3 halved baby tomatoes and a quartered slice of cucumber on it. The bill came and we had been charged $7.00 for the salad. I asked her to please take the salad off of the bill and the waitress argued with me but then begrudgingly agreed. When she brought back the adjusted bill several minutes later, it had a 25% gratuity added to it! I asked to speak with the manager.
The manager asked me if I had specifically told the waitress that I wanted the dish made gluten free. I told him that I showed her the item on the gluten free menu (actually held the menu and pointed to the item for her). He said, "Well, I'm not saying it's your fault, but. . ." At that point, my husband intervened and said that he would not pay the tip that was added to the bill. The manager argued with my husband and then told me that, if we didn't like the service then we did not have to come back. I went outside with our guests while my husband waited for a bill that did not include a gratuity.
We will never go back to this restaurant again as long as it remains under the...
Read moreWe came in and were seated right away, but asked to sit at a farther table and was told oh not enough waitress but a party of 3 came in and they were sat there. Then we asked for two waters with our drinks and did not receive the water until 17 minutes later and asked twice in between for the water. Then when we ordered we asked waitress not yo put in pizza order until we were almost done with out appt, which was a small oder of Nachos, they charged us 17 dollars for and it was awful, chicken was tough and stringy. We got our appt and not 2 minutes later our pizza. I let the waitress know we were not happy as I asked her to wait not stagger as she put it on the pizza. She said we'll I staggered the order when I put it in. Okay your not that busy so that means two seconds layer. Seriously such poor customer service. Then she walked away from table like it was our fault she couldn't follow our asks on our food that we are paying for. I asked for extra sour cream about 15 minutes ago and I still have not received it. Covid is over , let's get back to business and back to customer service. I will make sure I tell folks Not to come here. Word of mouth still holds a huge place...
