I was excited to write a generous favorable review and it pains me to write what I will at the end but I find it necessary for the sake of the community. The food is excellent as is the customer service. All of this is exemplary. I have met Jared as well as Aidan. Two employees who offer exceptional hospitality. The food and the people who work here are drawing cards to where I would definitely be a regular. I can't do it. I do not hold the restaurant accountable for the actions of others. I know the restaurant is successful but I have to wonder if it could be more so? I have no problem of somebody has to ask me if I have change I can spare. But I do have a problem when I say no and that is not accepted. I have only lived here a couple of weeks and now to notice every night that I drive by there are people out front of the restaurant. Nearly every night. They do not patronize a restaurant unless they have accumulated enough funds by the generosity of others. During my first experience two people outside of the door active very pleased to see me and call me sir and ask for money. Even naming how much they wanted one woman one and three dollars. When I said no I was easily dismissed which I would expect but there was also an attitude that I came off rude and not gracious. Tonight is the final straw. I was approached once going inside and twice coming outside. Three different people who are not pleased with me. As I was heading to my car the third person who I had said no to was very agitated with me and you follow me to my car door asking me why I'm telling him I don't have any change when in fact I have food in my hand that I was taking home. I'll be damned that I'm going to justify my choices to a panhandler. I have always fought for social issues but the primary aspect of my teaching social justice issues is to help the people to be able to stand on their own two feet supporting themselves and that doesn't mean panhandling. Although I understand you may have to do that for some time. I get it. Times are hard. I don't judge you. But don't come at me as if you have a grievance with me because I'm not supporting you. If you can stand on your feet for 3 hours in front of a storefront asking for money then you can count money working behind the counter at Dollar tree or any other establishments to a customer where you are an employee. I hope the management and ownership of this restaurant will read this review and consider what I am saying. I think your food is fabulous as I have said but I can't bring myself to be a regular given the perimeters of an unsafe environment becoming...
Read moreReally wanted some Stufd tonight and drove over. But then we saw their now hiring sign. They're only willing to pay 10/hr. In this day and age, that just doesn't fly with the rising cost of living. It's honestly embarrassing that they're only willing to pay 10/hr in this area where the average apartment is 900/month. I expect Ypsi businesses to do better. I won't be eating here again until their employees are paid what they're worth, which is most certainly more than 10/hr.
Edit to reply to the reply from the business: if 10/hr isn't where you actually start, then why advertise that as your starting wage? I still smell something fishy and I'd recommend avoiding this place if they're paying that little. Tips shouldn't make up most of a worker's wage, they should be an extra treat on top for a job well done. The business needs to pay the workers a living wage so they're not relying on tips.
Edit #2: also, people stay at jobs they don't like all the time for various reasons. Sometimes they can't get something else, sometimes they have health issues and are locked into a position because that's the only way for them to get health insurance, sometimes managers and owners bully and abuse them into staying. I've had my fair share of jobs that's I've absolutely despised, but stayed at anyone due to these issues. I know many others who have had the same experience. I guarantee we all have. Also, benefits like PTO, while nice and should be the default (and pretty much are at this point) don't pay the bills. That's like the minimum lowest bar you can offer and should just be standard. There's no excuse for pay to be so low. Especially in this area. Businesses should know better and know that the people of Ypsi won't...
Read moreI will take my money back over sitting there watching the cook make weird noises when asked why my order is still not ready, like Im some joke, and I get to wait more, enough time to wait for them to then refund my order -if you don't fit in their comfort zone here you are a joke, and they are 'entitled' to act any way they want especially if it makes you wait for their own amusement: I make an order for one burrito, I waited a few minutes then went to the corner store to get some snacks, I then waited for someone at that store to pay, then after I paid and got my items double-bagged I went back to Stufd to pick up ONE burrito -not ready. I ask why and the guy behind the counter asks the cook who then gets to make a bunch of weird noises joking about some b.s. then the counter guy comes back to the counter and says I still have to wait =hell yes I got a refund and spent my money elsewhere. Weird af, but people are supposed to be alienating towards customers they dont like, this is how things are run now, pathetic.
I would tell people if they make you wait or act weird towards you there dont expect it as a one time instance, they are 'entitled' to act any way they want with...
