My husband and I had planned a date night for us without the kids, and I told him I wanted to try this place out. Especially since I had been craving ribs for awhile up to this point. The date happened to fall on Valentine's Day, and we didn't have reservations. He called ahead to find out what the wait was, and they told him it wasn't bad at all if we got there asap. So, we left and drove over there. When we got there, the host told us there were no tables, but some should open up soon. We thought it was fine and began waiting, when he came back over to us a few minutes later and told us he would give us someones reservation (for a hour and a half after that point in time), I didn't really see it as a problem, because in an hour and a half, lots of tables could open up. So, we took it and he said something about them letting us know if the people arrived. We laughed when we sat down, thinking are they going to kick us out if we're not done eating...lol...obviously the ending to that part of the story is that many other tables opened up and they never asked us to leave. Hahaha. When we sat down I began looking over the menu and our server came by to get our drink order. I ordered a Diet Coke and when it arrived it was flat and watered down with ice. I mentioned it to our server and she took it back and tried putting less ice in it. It still tasted flat, so I think it must have had something to do with their machine. Our server was very nice about the entire thing. My husband had no problem with his root beer. We had a hard time deciding what to order. I really wanted to try the Perfect Trifecta, but my husband didn't think I could eat it all. We both wanted ribs, and I really wanted beef brisket too. The pulled pork I could sacrifice. There were no entree's with those two items only, so during much deliberations, we decided to order a full slab of ribs, and an order of beef brisket to split. Therefore, giving us both our own side dishes and the ability to try both of those things. I ordered waffle fries and green beans for my two sides, and he ordered mac and cheese and waffle fries as his. I was so hungry I couldn't wait to get our food. While waiting it gave me time to scope out the restaurant. The decor is pretty cool, with it's exposed brick and old wood floors, it is very nicely done. The only complaint I have with that, is that we were seated at a bar table, facing the wall. First off, there was plenty of room in there to have more normal height tables, where my feet are planted on sweet terra-ferma, instead of trying to balance them awkwardly on the stool foot rail, or the table foot rail. Also, while I got to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the restaurant, he got to look at either my charming face, or a brick wall. All they would have to do is turn the tables around, so both people can look around. So, after about 20 minutes our food arrived. It looked delicious! We divied all the food up and I dug in! The brisket was tender and had a very good smoked flavor. On that note, I wish we would have tried the Burnt Ends appetizer, it sounded so good! The ribs were tender and really fell off the bone. There was also a lot of meat on the ribs we got. At the table there is a variety of sauces to try. Some have a little more kick than others. I found one, that was a bit more mild, and it was amazing! I thought the waffle fries were very well seasoned and were very tasty. I left nothing behind. The green beans I thought lacked a bit of flavor, but I took them home in his doggy-bag and the next day they were good to munch on. I ended up eating every morsel (except all the green beans, lol) on my plate, even though my husband couldn't finish all his. I told him I could have eaten the Trifecta...lol...I really didn't have room for a dessert, so he was probably right. ;-). The service was great and I loved the food, now I want to go back and try...
Read moreI used to LOVE this place, but this past visit has quite honestly ruined it for me. The server took 5 minutes to even greet us, only to tell us she'd "be back" to take drink orders. Another 5 minutes goes by. By now, we're ready to order dinner as well. I asked the server, "did you guys get rid of the pork belly burnt ends?" (They used to offer both beef and pork). She replies, "no, they're right there" pointing to the menu. I said, "Yes, but those are beef brisket... aren't they?" She gets a look like I just spoke in a different language and says, "I don't know, I can ask if you want". Mind you, this is a BBQ restaurant.. the server didn't know what protein a menu item was. They were in fact beef as I thought, so I told her "we'll start with those" so she says "okay" and starts to walk away. I stopped her and said, "we're ready to order dinner, that was just our appetizer". We order. I ordered a 3 meat plate and my fiance ordered the BBQ nachos. The server asks, "did you want any meat on those?" The menu specifically states that they are topped with pulled pork. 45 minutes goes by...no burnt ends. The bartender brings our entrees out. I said, "um, we haven't even had our appetizer". She says, "was it the burnt ends?....oh, I'll grab those, they've been sitting back there". My fiance's BBQ nachos were SMOTHERED in sour cream and that's all she could taste. I used to live in the area, but now I'm an hour away. I've made the drive twice before this visit, 1 even during Covid for takeout, but this most recent visit will be my last... what a shame, this place used to have great...
Read moreHey world! 🤗 I loved this restaurant! The food Is phenomenal and the wait staff is wonderful, And the ambience around you is unsurpassed! My only one regret is the barbecue sauce, the rub on the meat is delicious and their mustard sauce is scrumptious, but the barbecue sauce... (that is to say the only non spicy option for those of us with health issues or whome wuss out on the spicy scale) is watery and above all very distasteful. I love Chicago's rib fest, its where the best of the best compete, to see whomever will be crowned America's best in the arts manship of barbecuing. They bring with them not only their skilled meats, but their exceptional homemade sauces. (Non of which I ever disliked) Which, When done properly, elevate even the best dishes to extraordinary. The food I had here today could compete at the very highest level (the barbecue dishes were that well done) but, if that sauce were added, it definitely would have fallen very short of the mark. Keep up the great work in all you're doing. But would you pretty please, if you have the time or inclination either work on your non spicy sauce or maybe add...
