McDonald's — Restaurant in Yreka

I don't know why, but the food here is consistently off. I wouldn't say it's "bad" necessarily, but it definitely isn't great and this is something I haven't had issues with at other locations. Probably one of my biggest gripes is the use of oil that is long past its use lifetime, bordering on rancid. This gives the fries and nuggets a nasty, bitter taste and this isn't a once in a while occurrence...it happens all the damn time. Secondly is the soda fountain drinks. Order a soda and you're likely to notice a very bitter, almost soapy aftertaste. This too happens nearly every time I order here. I was told by a former employee who worked at this location, that the nasty taste plaguing their soda fountain drinks is due to residual traces of the cleaning chemical the chain uses to clean out the fountain drink lines at the end of each day. This could be easily fixed by simply flushing the lines more thoroughly before reconnecting them to the soda/water mix but nobody seems to address it. Service is fine, employees are friendly enough. But given the prices of the food, I just can't justify eating here when 90% of the time what I order tastes horrible. I'd rather go to Carl's Jr across the lot and get a real burger and fries...

If you are looking for the worst McDonald's then you will find it here. The parking lot is small, hard to access and had smaller than average spaces, and then you go in. The floor had trash pretty much at every table, there were no truly clean tables, just some that were less dirty. The drink station was being worked on, I think. This is based on the buckets, tools and repair equipment left unsupervised, but this one little kid was helping until his parents made him stop. The food was typical fast food from an old gas station, it matched the order but had clearly been under the Lamps for a while. We did have to remind the person we ordered drinks and she was hesitant to get them for us, but in the end we navigated around the repair equipment to get our drinks. We mentioned the cleaning issue and her answer was, "she is supposed to do that but she isn't very good" as she glared over her shoulder. All in all a pretty big disappointment as it was a new looking building, or at the least recently remodeled. I was even surprised that after making a complaint the manager or supervisor didn't stop by but they were nowhere to be seen. I would skip this one or at least just hit the...

Visited August 2021: Worst McDonald's I've ever been to.

While one can never expect a gourmet experience at McD's, most other locations have a baseline quality to the food and experience. Unfortunately, the Yreka McDonald's is the rare exception.

Worst burger I've ever had, which I only ended up getting after waiting FOREVER in the drive-thru, and the staff misunderstanding/screwing up my breakfast order. Seriously, what is so difficult to understand about "hotcakes and sausage, with an extra sausage"?

Since it now was past 10:30 by the time my breakfast was delivered, I couldn't get it fixed, so opted for a double quarter pounder without cheese. The "without cheese" request also proved confusing to the staff, as they gave me a burger with cheese. When I asked for one without (again), I received a burger that was so dry and over-peppered that I just threw it out, and got something at the grocery store instead.

Never going back to this place. I don't know what it is about Yreka, but I've never had even a halfway decent fast food experience in this town. Save yourself the bad experience and just go to Smoked Tomato Pie or Black Bear Diner. Everything else here...
