My husband and I decided to try out the new location in Yuba City, we had a gift card we wanted to use. This was our very first time ever at a Pete's! After we were seated we waited a little over 15 minutes to be greeted. Once greeted, it took quite a bit longer to receive our drinks, we were told our server would be right back (I believe her name was Mandy) who knows what she was doing during this time, she had maybe 3 other tables. We didn't see her again for another 30 minutes. When she did come back out, you can tell she had been eating, by the way she was cleaning her mouth when she was talking to her other table. She finally came over to take our order, quickly put her order book away, and I had to mention that my husband had not yet ordered. After this she disappeared once again. The girls sitting in the table a head of us, looked annoyed as well needing her service. They had a manager stop by their table and was apologizing I'm assuming for the terrible service. We noticed that there was a party of 13 (who came in after us) sat down and were already eating their appetizers, we had not received ours yet. So of course this was just fueling our frustration, on top of waiting another 30 minutes for refills, during this time we didnt see our server once. There was a table that sat behind us (long after us) and we thought if they were to get their food before us, we would just leave. Sure enough their food comes right out. The manager happened to be walking by and asked how everything was. We didnt hold back, the lack of service there is embarrassing. We asked for a box for our 3 year old's mac and cheese, and least he got his food, granted it was cold. We walked to the car, and I went back inside to grab a to go spoon so my son can finish his food. The general manager quickly walked up to the hostess podium to speak with me. He was very nice, and we were able to relate on the simple fact that I was in the service industry for a company he just left, we ended up knowing the same people.
I get people have off days, and I know being a server has its moments. But this was a first for me, I've never had such awful service that I literally had to walk out of the restaurant. I dont think being a server is for everyone, and it is not for Mandy at the Yuba City location.
I see service seems to be the common complaint of your reviews. For how much you charge for your food I would expect better service.
I was also taken back, we came to use a gift card that was given to us. We were told we were not able to use it at the Yuba City location because it is franchised. We would only be able to use the gift card at either Roseville or Downtown Sacramento. Personally this is bad business if this is truly your policy, we were advised by an employee at the Yuba City location of this. No where on the gift card does it state you can only use the gift cards you purchase from a merchant (Walmart, lowes, etc, where you see all the gift cards hanging) that you could not use those gift cards for a franchised location. Their gift cards clearly state in black and white "It is redeemable for food, drinks, or merchandise, not exceeding the cards remaining credit balance, at ALL Original Pete's Pizza, Pasta and Grill AND Pete's Restaurant & Brewhouse locations." by Terrible business practice, and dishonest to accept money for gift cards others purchase, just to turn them away.
Update: I received a response from Pete's Brewhouse, their response states "We are sorry your experience did not meet your expectations. We served over 800 people that day" Um... my expectation would be that I receive at least my appetizer under an hour. I guess that's to high of standards for them? I encourage you as an owner to take a class on responding to your customers, and listen to what they are saying. Not even "Im sorry how can we make this better for you?" WE your customers are your...
Read moreWe had my boyfriend's surprise 60th birthday party/dinner there last night and I will say I was VERY impressed with the service received. After seeing a lot of the not so good reviews on here (& the awful service we received the night we went to dinner a month after they opened) I was kinda having doubts on choosing Pete's for the party but after last night I have a whole new opinion of Pete's Restaurant. 2 weeks ago when I started planning the party/dinner the manager/owner Tony was EXTREMELY nice and helpful and made me feel comfortable with my choice for the party. When I arrived early to decorate our servers Ashley & Kyle were more than accommodating in helping me get everything set up. We had 42 people show up and I was worried it might get a little hectic BUT IT DIDN'T !!! Ashley & Kyle were on it every step of the way !!! They got everyone's orders, kept everyone's drinks filled, then got all of the orders out on a timely manner (the cooks did a great job too), and cleaned up on a timely manner. The food was great plus it was 1/2 price appetizers all night for Monday night football and all large pizzas were also half price so that was an added bonus to the night. Just about everyone/guests seemed happy with their food & the atmosphere and that's all I wanted. My boyfriend had a great time (he wasn't too keen on going their for dinner because of our previous experience) and there was also 2 (that I know of) other birthday celebrations so if anyone is looking for a restaurant to hold a large dinner or celebration I recommend Pete's. I managed a restaurant for over 10 years (and another 14 years in customer service) and I am VERY critical of restaurant service and customer service in general and I was VERY happy with our service from Ashley & Kyle. They were both VERY friendly, helpful, & just flat out good servers !!! Tony (the mgr./part owner) was like I said earlier, VERY nice & accommodating, the cooks were on it last night, & also one of the "bus'ers" was VERY nice (he had a beard & I spoke to him while he was cleaning the tables at the end of the night). These days it's hard to find g00d customer service, g00d quality & quantity food at a decent price, & just a nice environment and I found all last night at Pete's Restaurant & Brew House. It was so good that one of our relatives is having her twins birthday party there next week !!! I didn't give it 5 starts because that takes a PERFECT flawless restaurant/business to get that in my eyes and there was a couple of minor flaws last night BUT 4 stars is pretty darn good in my book !!! And we WILL BE back again and that right there is saying a...
Read moreIs it good? Yes. Would I go here again? Probably not. The only way I see myself going back is if I'm with a group and I can't talk them out of it. The food is pretty good, it's definitely not the best in Yuba City. For an appetizer I got the platter. It was very good, I was pleased with everything on the plate. For the main entree, I got the All American burger with fries. I usually order the most basic thing because how can you mess up on that? I was also pleasantly surprised with it also. However, beyond the "pretty good" food, there's not much else good to say. The service was terribly slow. They took a while just to give us water and to do introductions. Then at the end, we just wanted to leave, but couldn't because the check took forever. The water was lukewarm, we did go when it was 105 outside and that might have something to do with it. For a place that wants to look high class, the menu falls flat on it's face. It comes in a nice cover, but the design of the menu looks like something a high schooler created in his spare time. It looks very cheaply made. The booths, tables, and everything else that is directly connected to the ground looks great! However, when you look up, you just ask yourself, "what happened?!" The lamps don't match too well. There's these two weird chandeliers at the very front just don't go together. One of them looks like a cheap chandelier from Ikea that should be in some kind of College dorm. Then the barrels over the bar just look so cheap and that's because they aren't even barrels. It's just wallpaper. I get it, not a lot of people look up and pay attention to these details and most people have stopped reading this by now, but where did you're design and image go? I think I speak for a lot of people that drive past this place daily and have seen it get built and had a lot of hope for a new place in Yuba City. This place just doesn't live up to it's expectations. Hopefully as they move away from their opening days and months, they can make it, and have good changes. After all we need these new place to succeed in Yuba City. It's just disappointing that this one doesn't live up to what I...
