I have been ordering the same thing for pick up for YEARS from Jake's. I love a good salad & Jake's dinner salad with their homemade Italian dressing was hands down the best salad anywhere not just in Yucaipa but the entire IE. At $10 for the large dinner salad, I would get it to go & come home to a huge delicious salad with fresh, green romaine lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, onions & parmesan cheese. I have ordered this a minimum of 50 times. What kept me coming back was the lettuce. It was always fresh & so green. So many times when you order a salad places, the lettuce isn't fresh & a lot of times it's iceberg, just not very good. But not at Jake's, always fresh, healthy, delicious green lettuce. So I honestly felt like I was going to cry when I ordered my usual tonight, got home & found no fresh, green lettuce but instead a big salad full of crap iceberg lettuce & not fresh, a lot of pieces were pink & gross, had to pick out the yuck pieces. This might not seem like a big deal to some but to me, it absolutely matters. It completely changes the taste of the salad when quality produce isn't used. Super bummed that I can no longer go to Jake's & order what was the best salad ever. I'd give 1 star but the reason may very well be that good green lettuce is hard to get now because the workers at the farms have either been detained by ICE or are too scared to go to work which is not Jake's fault. One of the greatest things about the wonderful state of California is our incredible produce which we are going to find vanishing from grocery stores or what is there will be so ridiculously high priced, most of us won't be able to afford. But yeah ICE, yeah Trump & yeah to making America...
Read moreWe found this place while looking for something to eat in the area. We gave it a chance because it had great reviews. The first time we went here the food was amazing. We ordered wings, pizza and the pasta trio. Everything was good including the service. We took our daughter back to celebrate her 21st birthday and the experience was definitely not the same. When you arrive they give you fresh rolls to munch on while you wait. The waitress gave us old rolls with no oil/butter topping like the rest of the tables. When we requested fresh rolls she took our rolls to the back and put the oil on them and brought us back out the same old rolls. Next we ordered our appetizers and food. My daughter ordered the chicken pesto pasta and it came in a bowl filled with oil (about an inch of oil). I ordered a pizza and it came out undercooked. My other daughter ordered a pasta dish and it came out with mixed pasta noodles (penne, spaghetti, etc.). Also, our waitress was not attentive or friendly. We let it slide because we had been there before and knew that Jake's could do better. It could have just been an off night for them but the experience is burned in our memory. We went back a third time and everything was back to normal. My daughter ordered the chicken pesto pasta again and it came out perfect. This is a local spot with a bar in it and towards the end of the night the bar side can get kind of rowdy. If you're taking kids I suggest to go a little earlier to avoid that. Other than that, it's a great...
Read moreI normally love their food and have no issues, since their food is pretty fresh, with large portions. Tonight’s service was dismal, and makes me rethink my desire to patronize them in the future. Their prices are higher than advertised on their website, which is not a great start to begin with. I sent my husband to order to-go, with the cash I had added up for on the website, plus about $10 wiggle room. When he came home with the food, he said it was $8 MORE than I had sent with him. Strike 1. I opened up the pastas that we had ordered, one with several toppings at additional charges, to find that there were no additional toppings. Strike 2. I understand sometimes things get crazy busy, and I wanted to call and warn them to be on top of that, register my complaint, and get back to dinner. Gave them a call, they immediately asked to put me on hold, and there I waited for four minutes, listening to the sounds of the restaurant. I handed the phone off to my husband so he could monitor the phone line, and he brilliantly hung up to try calling again. This time, the call just rang and rang and rang. Strike 3. I normally don’t review in a public forum. I don’t like to be a Karen. I despise Karens. But at the price point we paid, I would like to at least either get what I paid for, or talk to someone and get an acknowledgement that it won’t happen again. Service is important as part of a business. Tonight...
