Two couples came to try the new location which has been open barely a week. First impression from outside was "fast food" given the drive-through and building appearance. But entry is to a pleasant bar and open seating area. It is a combination of new and recycled fixtures, with some of the tables and chairs showing age. The street-side wall has a large multi-screen display showing beautiful scenic video clips. Overall feeling was decently comfortable. Lets get to... The Food: Well, there is tacos and beer (a nice selection) plus some usual and unusual Mexican-style items. Our group had fajitas, four kinds of tacos, and a rice side. Everyone reported the food was delicious and somewhat unique. The only nit was a shrimp tail left in one taco--not good eats. The Service: Good at first; missing at the end. We will cut some slack for being new and finding their rhythm. Our drink and dinner orders were taken not long after seating. We were early and there weren't many other diners. Nit-1; wine was on the menu, but they hadn't received their wine yet. Nit-2; I got 2/3 of a glass of the beer I ordered because it was the end of the keg. He said it would be complimentary, but I was charged anyway. Nit-3; when everyone was finished eating, no one came to clear our dishes. We waited. And we waited. We flagged one waitress for our check, but it still didn't come. Finally, we walked up to the bar and paid our original waiter there. He said the regular bartender didn't come in and he was stuck there. He apologized; nobody was upset. We will consider that as new-place shake-out. I also appreciate the challenge of getting and retaining good, reliable staff any more. Conclusion: I hope this restaurant makes it because of the good food. Will definitely go back for that. I hope the service and supply issues get resolved so those don't detract from one's dining experience. The facility is average and pleasant enough, although some of the furnishings do negate that new place vibe. Three * means average rating for now. We will see how Takos and Beer does after a few months and re-rate...
Read morePeople rave, but it’s not the place to rave about. Food is overpriced and sadly not fresh. 😔 My boyfriend and I started with the guacamole & chips. 🥑 I really enjoyed the pomegranate seeds in there, but it still desperately needed lime to give it brightness. The chips that come with the order of guacamole was not enough…so naturally, we ordered more chips. They charge for more chips even after spending $9 on the guacamole. 🤨 The cocktail menu 🍹 has unique and different options to choose from, which is great. I ordered the Mezcal Piña Kiss, which tasted mostly like ginger. I can believe this, because ginger can be a powerful flavor. Our TAKO order: Gator taco was very interesting. Never had that before, but it was hidden by overused sauce. Al pastor meat itself was slightly dry, then covered in old onion & slimy dark cilantro. The 1500BC was good and thankfully was not overwhelmed by toppings. The 24HR Costilla de Res was difficult to find under all the unnecessary sauce and toppings. The Camarón Empanizado 🍤 was overcooked and had the tail on. Take a look at the photos you can see the onions are translucent and cilantro was just dark & slimy. 😖 Overall, everything you read about the tacos being small—accurate. The edges of the corn tortilla was dry and hard, while the center was soggy. 🌮 Definitely too much sauce and toppings. They should let the meat speak for itself. With the price being high, plates being chipped, food overcooked and some even old… I don’t think I will be going back to eat. 🍹 🍺 I may go back to enjoy some drinks on happy hour or cocktails...
Read moreI ordered the fish tacos. Fish was so over cooked that I couldn’t cut it with a fork. It was horrible. The sweet waitress was so embarrassed that she offered to get me 2 more fish tacos with baked fish which sounded wonderful. When she brought them out to me the fish was about 1/4 inch wide and didn’t even go from one end of the tortillas to the other. Completely unacceptable. Strawberry Cadillac margaritas were not good at all. Barely pink instead of red like strawberry. Not hardly any flavor. Asked for the grand monier to be on the side so I could put it in my drink as I wanted. Waitress told me that bartender wouldn’t do that. He wanted to float it on top. If there was some on there it wasn’t seen or tasted. If it wasn’t for the sweet young waitress who tried her absolute best to make my dinner right is the only reason that they got 2 stars. It wasn’t her fault. When we got our bill they deleted the 2 tacos that I sent back but then charged me for 4 tacos when I only got 2 very skinny ones. If you go here be sure that you check over your bill. When our sweet waitress went to get our bill fixed the manager told her to let us know that there was a glitch in the WiFi and that was how we were overcharged. It was an accident. Which would be believed except I was on my phone checking out the Monday night football game and WiFi wasn’t interrupted. I am going to have to call serious...
