I'm partial to mom and pop shops so I really wanted to give this a higher rating but too much went wrong so I can't go above a 3.
The reason it wasn't enjoyable is largely due to the disorganization and not-so-friendly attitude upon arrival. The company advertised a 50% discount promotion on their Instagram, and myself and my friend signed up. We had been meaning to check this place out and this was the perfect excuse to do it!
We got our vouchers in advance and started making plans on when to go. They close early during the week - at 8pm - and so we thought we'd check it out on a Friday since they close at 9 instead. We planned this trip a week and a half in advance, and we noted the discount wouldn't be available during certain events like happy hour/live music etc. We got an email the same day to remember to use the coupon and we didn't see an events section with live music posted on their website. We decided to go on a Friday thinking nothing was going on. I got there to see a sign on the door advertising a limited menu and live music. When I got in, my friend was already inside chatting with Deb (she's super friendly!). I asked about the discount being valid, and Deb said she'd double check with Katie. Katie was curt and snapped back that the discount wasn't good anymore because of the live music and said the coupon stated it clearly. We weren't aware of the music until we got there since it wasn't on their website so when my friend asked me what I wanted to do and I told him that was the reason we went so we should just look into something else. It'd be different if I couldn't use the discount and could try the whole menu; it felt like too many compromises so I was ready to go. At that point, Katie very irritatedly said she would make an exception. I thanked her and asked politely how often they have music - just to make conversation - and Katie was still hostile and said it was always posted on their Facebook - as if we should know to check Facebook AND their website for their events.
Not the best way to start dinner...I was wound up from Katie's attitude - she had just thrown me off with her initial hostility right after I had a long work day - but my friend and I had a few drinks and a couple of pizzas, and when we went to leave we were feeling better. But then the cashout was a disaster. He and I had two completely different totals because she didn't apply the discount to his check but did to mine. We left the building and gave the totals another thought and decided to go back in. When we walked in, Katie immediately said she thought handled both of our bills incorrectly, which made me think this would be easy. I said my bill was fine but his needed to be adjusted. She announced in front of the line that my card didn't process but that she "was going to let me slide", which I thought was poorly worded in front of a line of people - it made it look like my card was declined or like I intentionally knew I didn't pay. My original transaction printed a receipt, which I showed to her, and she said my card still wasn't processed even though I had a printed receipt. Seemed odd but I still gave my card to her again, and somehow over the weekend I had FIVE charges from this place when allegedly the first one didn't even post that I now have to contest. Not to mention, my friend has two charges, neither of which are for the partial refund he should've received.
I know having a small business includes a lot of growing pains, but I feel like demeanor, tone, and execution play a big role. I would like to say I enjoyed my first time here - I got to see live music, eat well at a great price, and sit on a back patio with a wine slushy - but my experience was marred by the lack of professionalism and organization. If you want your customers to know when to use a discount, make sure you give them the tools to do so and don't email them on a day that they can't use it. If you're stressed out, don't take it out on your customers. Before you potentially over charge us, make sure the first charge...
Read moreVery good and authentic Italian food. Just a few days ago, I ordered their food off of Uber Eats. I can almost guarantee the food would be far better if I dined in. I tried the meatball appetizer, Nutella zeppole (added on 2 for a total of 5), and complimentary bread.
The meatballs were without a doubt absolutely delicious. They were also quite large. You get 4 per order, I believe. The inside is flavorful and the texture is perfect as well. Not too hard, not too soft, just right. Their sauce is delicious as well! I enjoyed it not being too oily, full of tomatoes, and it just went really well with the meatballs. A great filling appetizer that I think is worth the price. Use the bread to soak up the sauce!
Speaking of the bread, it's definitely nice that they still included complimentary bread, even for a delivery order. It was a pretty tasty bread, nothing too special. Soft in the middle, somewhat crunchy on the outside. Only used for soaking up sauce.
Really, the reason this is not a 5 star review is mostly because of the zeppole. There was supposed to be nutella with them, but I did not get any. So, it was just pieces of fried dough. There wasn't much sugar on them; they really needed the Nutella for flavor. Also, they were somewhat eggy and wet because of the condensation, so...not that great, especially for the price. Portion was alright, though.
All in all, I'm sure they typically do serve them with nutella, but my zeppole were served without them. It's probably just them being new to Uber Eats. Definitely get...
Read moreIncredible small place the tables for two were very uncomfortable. A 4 table place from what we saw.
First the pizza - the crust was really good really crunchy. The sauce was flavorless but overall pizza was good
Very disappointed in the pasta Grandma Sauce. Sauce again flavorless just tasted like a lot of tomato paste and tomato no other flavor or herbs or garlic nothing. The rigatoni was a box rigatoni for a place that has really nothing but pizza and pasta on the menu you would think you were getting homemade. The meatballs were ok and the sausage tasted like breakfast sausage
I heard lots about this place wanted to try it but to me there are much better Italian restaurants around. We were disappointed.
I appreciate your rude humor but I haven’t had a meal at an Olive Garden in years. I have had meals at Ala familia, Hoffstoffs, serval diners in NYC / little Italy. I was just being honest the sauce wasn’t good. If you have a place that has no chicken, beef or sea food on the menu then you better have the best sauce in the country, it was not. I wish you well as the small family restaurants are usually the best. I’m sure...
