A restaurant dedicated to vegetarian Vietnamese dumplings immediately caught my eye as something you don't see everyday, and this delightful family-run neighborhood shop house didn't disappoint. I didn't know what the difference might be between Vietnamese dumplings and Hong Kong wontons, Japanese Gyoza, or Polish Pierogi. The menu recommended if it was your first time to try, choose steamed dumplings. I ordered two dumpling styles - steamed mixed vegetable and pan fried multiple mushroom flavors. The dumpling wrapper was very delicate rice paper which was nicely translucent when steamed and white and opaque when fried. Both were nicely spiced and each came with a different dipping sauce, one soy and one chili. Toppings of fresh veggies made each bite richer and refreshing with a nice crunch. I also tried a delicious tofu vegetable claypot which was a stew consistency and came with rice topped with a layer of 3 fresh veggies. Vietnamese chili sauce on the tables have gave the meal an extra kick. The drinks had a unique option - artichoke tea - which has a gentle and smooth character and is recommended. Vietnamese ice coffee was my final drink... More as a dessert and was strong and tasty. The friendly family chatted about their cafe. Highly recommended - on my list...
Read moreA post online showed the place is open 9 AM to 9 PM so we reached the restaurant by 09:30 AM seeing the place half close. We thought it was about to open so we waited for a minute. An old lady immediately came by asking us if we wanted to eat something. As we were drenched in Da Nang's heat we responded quickly to enter the place. Seeing the old lady help us with food menus and give some guava as complementary it was a very homely feeling. While ordering the old lady's daughter came to take our order and informed us that the restaurant usually opens at 11:15 AM but her mother saw us waiting and offered to open soon as we kids wanted some breakfast. This very moment showcasing how good people of Vietnam are. I never felt so respected and good about myself after coming to Vietnam. Especially the old lady's interaction made by day. Thank you for making us feel so welcomed. The food was obviously very freshly made for us. I loved how they asked our preference for veg and vegan options too. I loved their hospitality, vibe and ambience. I wish them all the very best...
Read moreOn a rainy day, my husband and I visited CHAY Corner, a charming eatery that seemed surprisingly empty for lunchtime. I ordered four dishes, each one surpassing the last. However, it was the traditional sushi that stole my heart, with its rich filling and delicious dipping sauce. The sour soup was a bit mild for my taste, but the staff was so gentle and attentive that it made up for it. They constantly checked in on us throughout our meal to see if we were enjoying our food. As we prepared to leave on our motorcycle, they graciously waited until we were safely on our way before clearing the table.
I appreciate eateries with good service quality like Chay Corner. The staff does not need to be overly professional, but being attentive and dedicated is enough to entice me to come back again and again.
My order cost VND 148.000 in total including: Traditional Dumplings S, 28.000 Egg Fried Rice, VND 50.000 Traditional Sushi, VND 40.000 Sweet & Sour...
