BEWARE OF SLUGS IN SALAD!
My partner and I have dined most nights here since Roots has been closed in the evenings, mostly getting the Saigon bowl.
One evening last week my partner found a live SLUG in his Saigon bowl on the lettuce leaf. Neither of us eat meat and choose this place because it’s meant to be vegan. The staff at the restaurant were really apologetic and refunded him. We were both put off finishing the meals and left but understand this can happen with fresh food. The staff said they would tell their kitchen to check better.
A few days later I ordered on Grab, again the Saigon bowl. It arrives and AGAIN there is a live slug on the lettuce!
This shows that they are not acting on customer feedback and checking at all. It must happen a lot more for it to have happened twice for us. I feel bad for people that have probably eaten it without knowing.
I contacted the store and they said they will refund me and a 500k voucher. I wasn’t sure as I don’t want to eat at a place that doesn’t take hygiene seriously enough to check there’s not actual live slugs in the food. Slugs carry parasites which can cause all types of health issues.
When I asked how I will be refunded, they responded that because I complained to Grab now they won’t refund me as Grab will (Grab still haven’t) they also said to use the voucher, I have to spend 500k at one time 😂
The customer service is so bad considering this is a serious hygiene issue. Obviously we won’t be back now and advise anyone to beware of any live slugs...
Read moreI’ve been a regular at I Vegan Restaurant for weeks and usually enjoy the food and atmosphere.
However, my visit today June 25th evening was extremely disappointing and a stark contrast to my previous experiences.I ordered a tempeh bagel, but the service was shockingly slow. Despite only a couple of customers in the restaurant, my order took over 20 minutes, while others who arrived later were served much faster.
When the bagel finally arrived, it was rock-hard, practically inedible, as if it had been overbaked for ages. I couldn’t even cut it with the provided cutlery. When I raised this with the staff(not wearing glasses), I was told, dismissively, that “bagels are always hard.” They eventually replaced it.
Additionally, there were no tissues on the table, and when I requested some, the staff member (not wearing glasses) reacted with a bad attitude, serving me with a scowl that felt borderline abusive and deeply unpleasant. The same staff member appeared very stressed and was consistently impolite.
I was seated on the ground floor, and it was frustrating that the staff ignored my attempts to get their attention unless I shouted multiple times, even when they were right in front of me.Overall, the unprofessional service and poor food quality today were unacceptable.
I hope the management addresses these issues, as I’ve enjoyed this place in the past and would hate to see it decline. For now, I’m...
Read moreI really wanted to like the restaurant as it is very close to where I am staying. Unfortunately, the food flavors were not much to my liking. I had the vegan burger but they were out of the beet bun so I had the green pandan bun. The burger itself was light on flavor and I didn't really care for the bun. My wife had pumpkin soup which was delicious but also mild on flavor. Their menu online says the burger includes fries but we had to order them seperately. The menu says sweet potato fries, but they tasted more like cassava or perhaps yucca root fries. Not bad, but again mild on flavor. Even though I can't rate the meal higher, I am excited to try something else (a smoothie bowl perhaps) and give this place a second try! UPDATE: 26/7/24 We gave iVegan another go and they came through in a nice way. Had the falafel bowl and aloha pizza. Both were extremely flavorful. The pizza was made on flat bread and very saucy with the vegan cheese. I expected it to be unlike traditional pizza from the photos, and it was- but don’t discount it. It was quite savory and filling. The bowl was full of ingredients and taste was superb. We also had watermelon and passion fruit juices. The watermelon tasted just like liquid watermelon, but admittedly the passion fruit was just a bit on the tangy side. Don’t forget to visit the cute little iVegan tchotchke store next door. Glad...
