✅ We stayed at the hotel for 12 days. It all started great! From the welcome they gave us a plate of fruit and a refreshing drink. When we got to the room we were very excited because it was spacious and beautiful, it also had a really nice bathtub. The staff are generally kind, friendly and helpful. In particular Amy at reception and Thán who was at the pool bar and gave us tips on where to go, events in the city and what sauces to buy and always treated us luxuriously. The cleaning of the room was daily and everything was cleaned neatly. The location of the hotel is super central and around you have many options for restaurants, typical Vietnamese food, cafes, pubs and shops.
⚠️ Breakfast is not that good, first thing starts at 06.30 and finishes at 9:30am which is bit early in case you are coming as a tourist. If you plan to have breakfast, you must wake up early and one cannot always get down on time. The variety of food doesn't give many international nor great options, I always had only omelets and watermelon for breakfast 😅 (I love Vietnamese food and I feel that the hotel breakfast didn’t have that food to make guests fall in love, so I preferred going out to the surrounding neighborhood to buy something more authentic) . The room service.. well... we loved ordering fish chips and seafood pizza but the last time the presentation was totally different (they exchanged recipe) and well, we didn't like it anymore, totally different taste to the worse.
❌❌ I have worked for several years in the hotel sector and I know that the repairs, reconstructions and maintenance of the building are inevitable, as well as know that it is the responsibility of the hotel management to notify its guests in advance about said reconstructions. It is the guests who has all the right to decide if they want to continue with the reservation or not. Unfortunately 5 days were of intense noise in the room, unbearable drilling and hammering from 8 am to 5 pm because it is working hours (they were building the new bar on the 12th floor, I was on the 11th floor). We were considering leaving to another hotel. So as a tip! Ask if they have any of these repairs scheduled during your stay so you don’t end up in a work zone.
As stated in previous reviews, the hotel is overall good but has an issue also in the level of sound isolation. Basically you can hear the neighbors when talking loud, when talking on the balcony even more, so it would be good with some...
Read moreDisappointing Facilities and Poor Service – Overrated Hotel
I have stayed at various hotels across different countries and booked this one through Agoda. However, my experience here was extremely disappointing due to poor service, lack of consideration for family travelers, and subpar facilities. The hotel's high rating seems heavily inflated compared to the actual experience.
Confusing Room Information & Unhelpful Staff
The hotel offered an option to book two rooms at once, and based on reviews, I assumed they were connected—ideal for family travelers. However, upon arrival, I found out the rooms were not connected.
When I asked about this, the manager, Tien, firmly stated that the "X2 Superior City View Room" does not have a connecting option. Despite my attempts to find a solution, he showed no willingness to help and repeatedly insisted that no such option existed. Instead of trying to accommodate or offer alternatives, he made it seem like the issue was entirely my fault. His dismissive attitude was frustrating and unprofessional. The manager (Tien) spoke arrogantly and dismissively, showing no interest in helping.
Below-Average Breakfast
The breakfast selection was very limited and did not meet expectations in terms of quality or freshness, especially considering the hotel's price range. It was far from the standard I expected based on the hotel's rating.
Poor Fitness Facilities
As someone who values a proper fitness center, I was highly disappointed. The photos online were misleading, as the actual gym consisted of just two treadmills, two stationary bikes, and one bench press squeezed into a small corner of a guestroom floor. The equipment was old and poorly maintained, making it almost useless for serious workouts.
Severe Rating Inflation
One of the most puzzling aspects of this hotel is its high rating. Based on my experience, the service, facilities, and overall quality do not justify such a score. In Vietnam, hotel ratings tend to be inflated, and this hotel is a clear example of that.
The biggest issues with this hotel are its lack of consideration for family travelers, unhelpful management, and misleading facilities. Given the poor service, subpar breakfast, and inadequate gym, I cannot understand how this hotel maintains such a high rating.
If you are considering booking this hotel, I strongly recommend looking at other options and taking these issues...
Read moreI am booking a hotel room through Hotels.com and selecting the option to pay on site. I usually do this when traveling with rooms/locations 2, 3, etc. I use an Amex card as my payment method. However, I see that this is not accepted by any of the hotels. Hotels.com should be aware of this and make it possible to change the payment method in a few simple steps when the hotel contacts the customer 1-2 days in advance. ||I almost thought I would have to look for a new hotel or cancel my booking. This puts a slight damper on the vacation. When you are on vacation, you should not have to worry about what the next day will bring.||I have to say that the hotel staff were very accommodating and held the room for me even though they had no definite assurance that the customer would arrive or be able to pay. This was after a few messages on WhatsApp.||When I arrive at the hotel, I am greeted by the friendly staff at the reception. They explain that they have upgraded my room.|I don't know if this had anything to do with the incident a few days earlier regarding payment for the room.||This was a pleasant surprise. And the room was incredibly beautiful with a large balcony and a view and a large bathroom. There were two bathrooms. I think they called it the presidential suite. This was beyond all expectations.||Well settled in, I took a trip up to the pool area. This looks very good.|Checking out the restaurant. Looks great, not many people. I order some food. This was good. The staff are friendly. But during the four days I was there, I felt that they weren't perhaps 100% active. But that may be because it's low season.||The breakfast was good, with a good selection. I thought it was strange that no one was standing at the entrance to greet you, as they do in other places. They check which room you have and offer you a table and ask if you would like coffee or something similar.|Well away from the kitchen, where they prepare various hot dishes to order. I didn't think the woman standing inside was the most welcoming person working at the hotel. She was like that every day I was there.||But all in all, the stay was great, with a few minor comments, which I hope they will take...
