Poomba's Smokehouse in Đà Nẵng is a revelation for anyone on the hunt for a bold, unapologetic taste of barbecue done right. Tucked away in one of the city's vibrant neighborhoods, this joint isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a tribute to the slow art of smoking, where every slab of meat sings with flavor.
From the moment you step in, the rustic charm hits you like a burst of sizzling smoke and spice. The aroma of wood-fired goodness permeates the air, setting the stage for an unforgettable feast. I dug into their signature smoked brisket, which was tender enough to practically melt in your mouth, with a crispy bark that balanced smoky, savory notes with a whisper of heat. The accompanying sides—creamy coleslaw and perfectly seasoned beans—rounded off the meal like a well-conducted symphony.
Beyond the food, Poomba's embodies the laid-back, streetwise vibe that defines Đà Nẵng’s underground culinary scene. The friendly service, no-fuss decor, and lively atmosphere make you feel as if you’re among friends, swapping stories over generous portions of mouthwatering barbecue.
If you’re in Đà Nẵng and craving a true taste explosion that challenges the ordinary, Poomba's Smokehouse is an absolute must-visit. Every bite is a testament to the passion behind its craft—a smoky, savory adventure that leaves you both satisfied and eagerly anticipating...
Read moreGood: nice effort and selection of American comfort food. The Philly cheese steak exceeded expectation. The croquette amuse bouche was a nice touch.
Bad: The menus are nice but reeked and need a proper cleaning. I love pastrami but their version (smoked meat) was hella salty. Odd knickknacks about make the place feel cluttered and dingy. A rat came right up to me from one of the decorative woodpiles. I know this happens in Vietnam but this ratatouille got too comfy. Soon after, one of his buddies scurried by from the styrofoam containers by the pond. I might order the cheese steak again for delivery and hope the bread holds up.
Response to owner - thank you for the clarification. The kitchen was out of rye, hence, the substitution, but it makes sense that the heavier bread would offset the saltiness some, but likely not enough that day. Maybe the brine/cure was off for that brisket; I state this as someone who loves salty food. The pickles and mustard were lovely accompaniment, though. Adding a star because I appreciate what you're doing overall, bringing a taste of home to us...
Read moreWas torn between 4 and 5 stars for one reason alone; although the service was very good in terms of the waiter’s politeness and the way he chatted with our table, it was unfortunately slow at times and there seemed to be slightly long waits throughout. For example, the table of 4 of us had decided on our chosen meals and drinks and were more than ready before the server emerged. This tiny detail really didn’t affect our experience here though - the food is incredible. I didn’t manage to take any photographs as there was little time between it hitting the table and us digging in! Dave (Dat) is such a lovely person whom was waiting on our table for the evening. He was extremely informative when asked questions regarding menu items and had a great laugh with us too! Ultimately I did decide to go for the 5 stars because the food & staff personally are great & you are sure to really enjoy a meal here. Their cocktails are great too (although these take a little bit of time!). Would definitely return though!
P.S. the piggy Mac burger is amazing (as is the kitchen sink burger and...
