Walking into Le Comptoir at 5:45 PM on July 29th, I was amazed to see the restaurant already bustling with diners, a clear testament to its well-deserved reputation. From the moment we stepped inside, the warm, inviting ambiance made us feel right at home. The space strikes the perfect balance between modern elegance and cozy intimacy, creating an atmosphere that is both refined and welcoming.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly Chef Benjamin, whose genuine passion for cuisine and heartfelt hospitality elevated the entire experience. Not only he introduce each dish with enthusiasm, but he also took the time to interact with every table, sharing stories behind the ingredients and techniques. His warm smile and attentive nature made us feel like honored guests rather than just customers. It’s rare to find a chef who puts so much care into both the food and the diners, and this personal touch made the night truly unforgettable.
The meal began with a simple yet extraordinary detail—the bread and butter selection. Even this small starter showcased the restaurant’s dedication to quality. The bread was freshly baked, with a perfect crust and soft interior, paired with a selection of artisanal butters, each with its own unique flavor profile. It was a delightful preview of the culinary artistry to come.
Every dish that followed was a masterpiece of modern French cuisine pairing with right wines, beautifully plated and bursting with harmonious flavors. The ingredients were clearly sourced with care, and the execution was flawless, each bite was a testament to Chef Benjamin’s skill and creativity. What impressed me most was how every course felt thoughtfully composed, balancing tradition with innovative twists.
Despite its Michelin-recommended status, the pricing at Le Comptoir is surprisingly reasonable, offering incredible value for the level of craftsmanship and service provided. The staff further enhanced the experience with their attentive yet unobtrusive service, always smiling and ensuring we felt well taken care of throughout the evening.
What makes Le Comptoir even more special is its ever-changing menu, promising new surprises with each visit. This, combined with the warm, family-like atmosphere, makes it a restaurant I will return to again and again.
In a city like Da Nang, where dining options are plentiful, Le Comptoir stands out as a true gem. It’s not just a meal—it’s an experience, one that lingers in your memory long after the last bite. For anyone seeking exceptional French cuisine with soul, this is the place to go. Thank you, Chef Benjamin and the entire team, for an unforgettable night—I can’t wait to return!

Read moreEmbarking on a culinary escapade at the French haven nestled in the heart of Da Nang was an experience beyond compare. As we stepped through the doors, the warm embrace of the staff immediately enveloped us, setting the stage for an extraordinary evening. What struck us from the start was the personalized greeting, a touch that made us feel like honored guests rather than mere patrons.
Our gastronomic journey commenced with a cold cut platter that was nothing short of a charcuterie symphony. The selection meats and accouterments displayed a meticulous curation of flavors, leaving our taste buds dancing in appreciation.
The pièce de résistance, however, was the steak tartare on bone marrow. This dish was a culinary masterpiece, marrying the richness of the bone marrow with the vibrant freshness of the tartare. Each bite was a revelation, a harmonious blend of textures and tastes that left us in awe.
Yet, what truly elevated this dining experience to unparalleled heights was the exceptional staff. Our waitress, a paragon of professionalism and warmth, guided us through the menu with infectious enthusiasm. Her knowledge and passion for the cuisine added an extra layer of enjoyment to each dish. Equally noteworthy was the host, who orchestrated the evening with grace and charm.
Their attention to detail and genuine care for our experience were the invisible threads weaving through the tapestry of our evening. It wasn't just about the food; it was about the people who made the experience memorable. The staff's commitment to excellence transformed a delightful meal into an unforgettable celebration.
As a delightful surprise, a complimentary dessert arrived to conclude our feast. A sweet gesture that mirrored the sweetness of the entire evening.
In summary, this French restaurant in Da Nang isn't just a place to dine; it's a haven where passion for food and unparalleled service converge. We left with not just satisfied palates but with hearts full of gratitude for the remarkable team that made our night truly extraordinary. We eagerly anticipate our return, ready to be enveloped once again in the warmth of both the ambience and the...
Read moreThe service here is top notch, the food is excellent. I had the 5 course menu with my husband for New Year's Eve, and they even allowed me to switch my main course with a different dish because I was disappointed that I couldn't get the à la carte menu that day. Truly outstanding service!
Each course was a lovely experience, culminating in the main dish. My husband had the boeuf Rossini and I had scallops. Both were absolutely perfectly cooked. The beef practically melted in your mouth, it was so tender. I do wish I had a third scallop for the main, as I felt 2 was a bit scant. 3 would offer a more attractive plating as well, in my opinion.
I have some mild criticism is for the ravioli. The flavor was quite nice, but the noodle was too soft for my preference. It was too soft to hold the lobster filling and disintegrated around it. Just a minor thing, but could be improved. The little pomelo salad it was served with, however, was incredible. The poisson du chef was wonderful, but I'm not a fan of raw onion. Again, personal preference, but I would have liked a touch of citrus to bring acidity instead of the raw onion, which I found a bit harsh against the delicate flavor of the fish and cream sauce.
The palate cleanser, an iced applesauce dish, was carefully considered with surprising and refreshing flavors. I also loved the dessert which featured a pistachio cream choux pastry with a powdered raspberry dusting. Overall, the 5 course menu was lovely, but next time I'd probably get à la carte as I found the options there much more interesting for my personal taste.
My only true criticism is that the bathroom is not as carefully considered as the rest of the space or the cuisine. It's a weird tiny closet beyond a sliding door that isn't sheathed on the back side. It could really use some renovating to match the rest of the restaurant. Not a deal breaker for me, but breaks the spell of being in a fine dining...
