We were sitting across the road enjoying a coffee when we noticed a steady stream of people queuing up at a small street-side bakery, Kimi, located right on Nguyễn Văn Trỗi. Curiosity got the better of us, and we decided to check out what the fuss was about.

Despite its small size, Kimi draws a big crowd, and it was clear why. The standout item seemed to be the “Bánh Nướng Phô Mai Kéo Sợi” a fluffy, golden baked cake filled with creamy stringy cheese. We decided to order the same, and honestly, it was one of the best spontaneous decisions we’ve made in Da Lat.

The cake was warm, freshly baked, and had the perfect texture, crispy on the outside, soft and rich inside, with that gooey cheese pulling away with each bite. It’s not just tasty, it’s comforting. We could see why people were happy to wait in line.

The prices are also incredibly reasonable at 22K VND, which makes this a great little street food experience that doesn’t break the bank.

If you’re wandering around Da Lat and spot the bright round Kimi sign near Hotel Thanh Thảo, do yourself a favour, grab a cake or two before they sell out...

The location can be spotted easily even though the store was small. As I recalled, seems like there are no dining area. The owner is friendly and lovely. It’s nice to eat during rainy day as the cakes are freshly baked.

I ordered for the cheese and egg custard flavor? This is just my personal preference, as I am not a sweet tooth person, I find it a bit too heavy and cheesy for me. Two of us can’t finished both cakes because of the sweetness.

If you are not a sweet tooth person, I will suggest you to just buy one to try first and...

If you can navigate through the crowded streets, this is worth a stop. The pastry not too sweet not too rich but has some denseness. Don’t expect light and fluffy. Recommend the cheese and salted egg option. The milk is on another level. Do 100% buy the fresh milk here. It’s out of this world. Eat and drink immediately for best results. Across the street is Married Beans coffee shop where you can get a coffee and sit...
