Update 6th June. I decided to try again. Today I was short changed again. By the same person. Unbelievable. That is 4 times now so now I assume it’s not a mistake but a considered action. Very disappointing. Pull your socks up Joma. This behaviour will impact your business negatively.
Joma Bakery is an expat/foreigner favourite. And the prices generally show that. That’s ok of course. For the past year it’s been my lunchtime/breakfast go to. Clean food in a town with inconsistent food hygiene. (A quote from my Viet doctor). I would normally recommend a visit. However, in a relatively short space of time I have been ‘short changed’ 3 times. This IS NOT an allegation, merely an observation. Mistakes can happen. All Im saying is that if you are a local or visitor, it’s good practice to check your change wherever you are. I have found it a rare occurrence in Hà Nội, but just my recent...
Read moreThree years ago when I first moved to Hanoi I wrote a review about Joma Bakery and to be honest I gave it a couple of stars because it had decent bakery fare.
Today after being away for that two years I made the mistake of going back for breakfast. In a rush this morning I dropped my guard because O'douciers French Bakery posted a 6am opening time at at 7am was still closed.

7 a.m. in the morning with food staff shouting and screaming at each other coughing and sneezing around the food preparation area.
Joma Bakery is overpriced garbage but gets away with murder coz expats forget what civilized quality tastes like and stoop low for...
Read moreThere's a few Jomas in town, but this one is closest to home... great food, chill place in the morning, not too many people. The coffee is great, get the long black (large) and get one free refill. I'm just in love with the granola (you can also get that one to-go), fruit and yoghurt, and those matcha/chocolate cups are to die for, but be warned, better share that with a friend: it's a lot for one person. There's parking available within the café courtyard (outdoor and indoor seating plus more seating upstairs). Prices are more western oriented but reasonable either way. Couches and seats are comfy, wifi available with the password on the bill. Only thing which is a pity is that all the shops aren't coordinated i.e. if in some you get a discount for bringing your own cup, it's not the case in all the shops :( Anyways, chill place for...
