I recently visited ivegan Hanoi and wanted to share my thoughts on the overall experience. While the atmosphere was pleasant and the food appeared visually appealing and healthy, I found the taste to be rather disappointing and unremarkable. I had high expectations for unique flavors, but unfortunately, the dishes failed to deliver in that aspect.
One of the positive aspects of ivegan Hanoi is its friendly atmosphere. The staff was welcoming and created a warm environment, which contributed to a comfortable dining experience. Additionally, the restaurant's toilet facilities were impressive. They were spacious, well-maintained, and had a pleasant scent, which is always a bonus when dining out.
On the other hand, the taste of the food left much to be desired. Although the presentation was visually appealing, the flavors fell flat and lacked the excitement I had hoped for. I was expecting a more distinctive taste that would make the dishes stand out, but sadly, they ended up being quite dull and uninteresting. It was a missed opportunity to showcase the potential of vegan cuisine.
Despite the disappointment with the food, I must highlight the positive note of the smoothies we ordered. They were delicious and refreshing, providing a glimmer of satisfaction amidst an otherwise lackluster culinary experience.
In summary, ivegan Hanoi offers a friendly atmosphere and boasts visually appealing, healthy dishes. However, the taste of the food is underwhelming and fails to live up to expectations. While the smoothies were enjoyable, they were not enough to compensate for the overall lack of flavor. If you're looking for a vegan restaurant with a pleasant ambiance and good smoothies, ivegan Hanoi may suffice, but those seeking an exceptional culinary experience may be left...
Read moreI had the Falafel burger (my first experience with Vegan burger) as I accompanied my mom and sis (who are bonafide vegans) at this place.
Disclaimer before I rant about my burger: My mom had the Vegan tuna sandwich while my sister had the Pesto Peace-zza (pizza).
My mom thoroughly enjoyed her food and I tried a bit of the sandwich myself. I found it delightful.
More than I could say for my Falafail burger. Now I don't really know what the cooked falafel patty should taste like. Hence, when I found it odd, I thought that's how it's supposed to be. I went on a limb and asked my sister to try it and she said it was undercooked. Being non-vegan, I was none the wiser. I tried the falafel ball from the falafel platter (that seemed indistinguishable from my burger's patty) and lo n behold... It did taste different. I enjoyed the falafel ball.
So it was clear the patty was undercooked or something because it tasted way off.
At first, the staff had issues understanding me cos, well language differences. So that's perfectly understandable. We eventually used Google translate to get the point across that the patty tasted different from the ball.
Naturally, she defended their cooking method saying the patty and ball were subjected to the same cooking duration. Which, kinda made our point if you think about it. A larger chunk of food needs a longer cooking duration as compared to a smaller portion. When I tried to explain that to her, she seemed baffled at the logic.
Regardless, after some convincing, we were able to get the burger replaced with the "Tuna" sandwich, which, like I mentioned earlier, was pretty decent.
I must admit, for a first experience in a Vegan Café, this has been rather disappointing. Might stick to my regular heart-clogging cheeseburger...
Read moreI ate at two vegetarian restaurants in Hanoi. Check out my review for the other place which is superb.
I ordered the falafel bowl. the taste of the food was excellent but the portions are a joke. In my bowl I had 1 olive cut into slices to make it look like more. I had 1 grape cut into pieces to make it look like more. And 2 cherries tomatoes cut into slices to make them look more. I had one walnut and 1 salad leaf. I asked for olive oil but they told me they didn't have any. Mediterranean food with.no olive oil?? Really??
Really, 1 olive and 1 grape?? This is really a joke!!!
The presentation of the food is excellent. But the presentation hides the face that there is little food. For the same price or less there are many better vegetarian options in Hanoi.
As for the place itself, the owner has tried to copy a new York style atmosphere where wannabe intellectuals go to drink coffee, work online and listen to jazz music that no one has any interest in. All this to give it a so called cool intellectual vibe. Why couldn't they design it with a Hanoi atmosphere??? My guess, it's owned by a westerner or an Israeli because Vietnamese people are generous.
Honestly there are much better vegetarian...
