King Bao Dumpling (Dim Sum) — Restaurant in Hà Nội

Hi there, I’m a regular customer who usually visits the restaurant about twice a month (at least once), and I’m already familiar with the fact that the chef tends to cook a bit slowly – which I’m totally okay with.

However, I had an unpleasant experience yesterday that I’d like to share in the hope that it can help the restaurant improve.

I arrived at the restaurant at 7:21 PM. At that time, there were no other customers besides me and my daughter. About 5 minutes later, a group of foreign guests came in. I kept waiting until 7:43 PM, which was very close to my work time, so I asked the staff why it was taking so long for just two dishes. She told me it was because the other table had made a reservation.

What I don’t understand is: If the kitchen was busy or there were prior reservations, why didn’t anyone inform me when I arrived, so I could make an informed decision, instead of sitting and waiting for nearly 20 minutes without knowing the reason?

I politely paid the bill and asked for the food to be delivered to my office, which is just 300 meters away, as my daughter also needed dinner. About 15 minutes later, the delivery person arrived and charged me 23,000 VND for shipping.

This left me genuinely upset – not because of the money, but because: • I had already wasted time waiting at the restaurant without being informed • I had to pay delivery for just 300 meters • The staff didn’t apologize at all – they just kept repeating that “it was a fast booking, so it came out as 23k instead of 16k…”

As someone who has supported your restaurant for a long time, I’m not writing this to complain but rather to hope the restaurant can be more mindful of how regular customers feel – because a timely explanation or simple apology can make all the difference.
