We went for the buffet dinner, which was a mixed bag. Duck with plum sauce was excellent but the siu mai, bbq pork, and braised pork was very mediocre. The egg tarts were great, though. I cannot agree with the other reviewers (and the hotel's web page) that this is the best Chinese restaurant in Hanoi, that title belongs to Crystal Jade at the Marriott.
It was also during the lunar new year holiday but that is not really an excuse for the incredibly poor service. The serving staff got many of our orders wrong and forgot to put some orders into the kitchen. The waitress waited until we had paid the bill to explain that the kitchen was understaffed. I'm not sure how many staff they were missing. There were four tables including our table.
For the prices Ming are charging and the venue, everything could be much better. Unless there is a major obstacle in the getting to the Marriott, save your money and spend it on a superior experience at the...
Read moreAmbience: reasonably fine. However the space is not well managed, and any big group with some loud voices can spoil the overall quiet ambience.
Food: a big disappointment! We went for dimsum buffet on Sat. Given the high price it charged and the Pan pacific location, we had some expectation for quality of the food. However, the food turned out pretty bad and very different from any chinese dish that I have eaten. Every single dish will fail by some measure: some overcooked, some weirdly seasoned, some too salty, etc. Overall, I was totally unimpressed with the food here and probably woundnt want to try again.
Staff: service level is way below the level I would expect for a hotel restaurant. Staff was rather rude in terms of answering guests’ questions and comments.
I made an absolutely wrong choice of celebrating Father’s day here. Wouldnt recommend this...
Read moreIf you enjoy eating goose, this will be the place to visit for your goose fix. Really delicious cold smoked goose breast meat. You can smell and taste the delicious smokey of the tender goose meat. The smoked goose fried rice was probably the best fried rice we have had with a nice crunch from the red rice grains. The beef dumpling were also good.
Vegetables were young and tender and nicely cooked. The seaweed salad with 3 slices of smoked goose was also excellent.
The only disappointing dish was the claypot drucken chicken... what we were served were chicken bones, no meat at all. Fortunately, we were not charged for this dish. Perhaps the chef or his staff should know better than to send out boney chicken as that did not do anything but detract from the rest of...
