I mostly concur with other reviewers that this is a popular restaurant and the food is good, but two other travelers in the restaurant lit up cigarettes throughout the 90 minute meal. Ordinarily I would have left but I was part of a group and unfortunately had to endure the smoke choking me and making the dinner quite unsavory. There was no “No Smoking” sign at the front, so I forewarn patrons that this is a popular spot for smokers. Back in Australia this is banned and smokers are now forced to consider others. Unfortunately the smokers at Cao Cao had no concern for others, and the staff made no attempt to stop the smokers contaminating the whole restaurant.
As for the food, some people rave about Vietnamese food, but our beef vegetables was a small portion and mainly onion (which we specifically said “little onion”), and this seems to be the norm. It should be called “beef onions”. The beef spring rolls were excellent. Also, the wait for our food was agonizingly long, partly because the owners and grandparents were walking around with a young child...
Read moreExcellent prices for excellent food! The family who run this restaurant are very friendly and helpful 😊 The restaurant is near Cua Dai Beach so it is a great place to have lunch or dinner after visiting the beach 🏝️ The restaurant has a good selection and the atmosphere of the whole place is very friendly! 4 stars instead of 5 because the restaurant also runs a laundry service and although our first experience with the laundry service was great, the second time we used the laundry service our clothes ended up smelling worse than when we dropped them off (they forgot the detergent maybe?) and we also ended up with some mystery socks that did not belong to us. Overall we highly recommend this place for their food & drinks! We visited many times and we definitely be back to dine here in the...
Read moreWe loved our dinner at Cao Cao Grasshopper! The older Vietnamese lady waving to you from the menu at the front is just the start of a fantastic and homely dining experience. We had already decided we were going here for dinner after seeing their sign advertising gin and tonics for only 50,000vnd. Unbeknownst to us, they have a happy "hour" that runs from 4pm-8pm offering buy one get one free drinks! Our food was amazing and very well priced. Unlike other Vietnamese restaurants we've visited, the food actually takes a short while to prepare and you can see and hear them preparing it in the kitchen. This is a refreshing change to the restraunts where your food comes out almost immediately after ordering. Their Cao Lau...
