A lovely, family owned (husband and wife) restaurant tucked 20 metres down an alleyway off the main road, which also has a homestay service too. The majority of the restaurant is outdoors and has a really nice atmosphere, especially at night when the area and garden's are lit up. There's a small alfresco undercover section and then a larger open courtyard area that has large umbrellas covering the tables and seating. There's a small indoor dining section, too. Being out of the busy tourist season (winter), I was the only person there and it did take a moment before I was noticed....but that gave me time to view the entire menu and decide what to order. Their menu has selections ranging from Western cuisine (pasta, pizza & hamburgers etc), Vietnamese cuisine (fried rice, fried noodles & meat dishes), local HoiAn cuisine (Cao Lau, Banh Xeo, Banh Vac etc) vegetarian options and some desserts, and all at reasonable prices. I wanted to try many dishes, but having a late lunch, I only had the Com Chien Ga (chicken fried rice). This was really nice and an OK portion for 95,000VND, and was served to my table within a reasonable time frame. Their menu also has a good variety of alcoholic beverages (beers & cocktails), as well as fruit juices, soft drinks, teas, and coffee....even a few wine selections. The attentive service and friendliness I received from the wife (husband was busy with friends) was very good, and her English is quite good too. I will definitely be returning on another day to sample more of the food they have to offer. UPDATE....Just came back for a final dinner in HoiAn before leaving tomorrow. I ordered the Bun Thit Nuong (Grilled pork with noodles & peanut sauce) and this was sensational....the best version I've eaten from all across Vietnam (I have tried this dish in over 10 places throughout Vietnam....hands down that this was by far the best!!!).👏👏 Also received the most friendliest and hospitable service again....I cannot wait until I return in late January to eat here again. Bahahaha I might even sneak by tomorrow for lunch prior to...
Read moreWe found this wonderful family restaurant while wandering the streets of Hoi An. A hidden gem right in the heart of Cam Chau. The food is absolutely outstanding! Traditional Vietnamese cuisine but also a good variety of international dishes. We have eaten at Toan's several times and continue to go back! We tried their Cao lầu, vegetable curry with mushrooms & tofu, Cơm Gà rice with chicken, deep fried spring rolls and finally tofu with vegetables with rice and a delicious sauce. Each one more phenomenal than the last! The flavours are so authentic and all the dishes are perfectly balanced and freshly prepared. You can really taste the love and care that the owners and chefs put into their food. The portions are very generous and each dish displays attention to detail, such as the addition of fresh chilli paste and herbs that are so fragrant! Beside several drinks and fruit juices you can also find fresh coconut (for us is a must!) and at the end of each meal they offer fresh seasonal fruit.. You are definitely up for a treat! The family, who also runs a family homestay in the same structure, also contributes to create a unique experience. All members are very friendly and welcoming. Their smile and kindness really warm the heart! Relaxing and quiet atmosphere in a spacious beautiful place surrounded by greenery, a lush garden full of flowers and plants so well taken care of. Truly a little Eden!
Do not miss this opportunity...
Read moreNormally there is always something that is not a full 100% but in Toan,s restaurant we did not spot a thing.
Toan,s gardenrestaurant is in the garden of the Strawberry Garden Homestay and the lady of both these premises is a very excellent Ladychef who speaks english fluently, so it,s easy to talk about the menu options among which she has plenty vegetarian possibilities.
Her name is mrs Khanh and she cooked many years in the Victoria Hoi An Beach Resort under a number of different chefs from european countries and their talking during work was always in english, so this is where she learned her english and refined her cooking.
The restaurant is in a nice and quiet garden on a small lane off the main road and we can only say that one should try it out and this should not be done on your last day in town because you,ll feel a fool the next...
