Bún Bò 5T — Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

Best bún bò we had in Sài Gòn. The fermented garlic and onions, and the vegetables all went so well with the bún. Very very delicious. And very clean restaurant as well (we've been to a few local bún and pho places, and did not expect this level of cleanliness from a local restaurant).

When I read a lot of the reviews that said the owner is very nice and kind, I thought she's just polite in general. But no. She is exceedingly lovely and kind. Our plane landed around 2pm, and we got to the restaurant at 3pm. The restaurant was closed, there was no more guest, and the owner already had the shutter pulled half way down. We stood there and didn't say anything, a bit disappointed that we travelled far to eat here but missed the chance. The owner invited us in without any hesitation even though we didn't even ask her. She was so nice and lovely to us, considering that we came after closing.

I ordered the beef shank with crab meatball. The broth is superb. You can further customised it by putting whatever condiments you like that are on the table. The boss knows english and we had a bit of conversation. Turned out he was previously an architect. He told me he wanted to create a place that gives you a taste of good traditional food in a clean environment. We all know in vietnam, sometimes very good food are often in dirtier and messier places. His place is definitely clean. And his menus also come in chinese, english and japanese, he really aims to spread his food to guests of all nationalities.
