The Kally Hotel is in district 4, but while only a few minutes and $2 from the tourist laden downtown, this area has the feel of a 'real' neighborhood. There are a lot of small places for eating around as well as a very large local market area only a couple of blocks away which is good for eating and shopping. The hotel has 7 floors with 3 rooms per floor: a middle windowless room, a front room with a queen bed and a rear room with a queen and double bed. The rear room is only about $30 US and is quieter than the front. Rooms are quite large and the wireless WiFi actually works in the rooms. The air conditioning is the best I've ever found in a hotel. It can cool the room down in minutes yet is amazingly quiet. Amenities are limited and while there was shampoo and toothpaste there was no soap. There is a frig in the room. Read moreI have stayed at Kally Hotel at least three times in the last four-five years. This January my wife, daughter and I stayed several nights during the beginning and the ending of our travels around Vietnam. The cleanliness and service has always been great. The hotel has a bus stop just outside. There are regular buses to District One (The CBD of Saigon) almost every 30-40 minutes. There is a lively Market only five minutes walk away. There is a large bath with an over-head shower in every room. There is a breakfast service available (not included in the room price) - but I have never used it. There is a choice of rooms facing west towards the CBD - or others facing toward the cruise ship port. I have always found it a very quiet and safe place to stay. The staff are great. Highly...
Read moreI booked a room here for 2 nights by phone, then when I arrived at the property they tried to charge me much more because I am not Vietnamese. As I was very tired, I ended up staying one night.
This place has very bad business practices. Do not stay here if you are foreign, as they will charge you more, and not honor their agreements.
The room itself was not good, and there was mold and exposed wires in the bathroom. I got a better room in district 1 for cheaper...
