What a delightful experience. My husband and I came to HCMC for a few days and I was determined to only have local food. My friend in HCMC highly recommended this place so on the last night we decided to give it a try.
It was comfortable. The tables were a bit small but the staff were very flexible in combining 2 round tables for us without us asking. Baby chair was provided.
We ordered 2 curry, 1 mango laksi, 1 beer, simosa, naan. The portion was generous. The curry was so flavourful. Plenty of protein in each dish.
The staff were attentive, friendly and welcoming. They speak good English which also helps!
They were so nice to give us complimentary roti, rice pudding and ice cream for our toddler (though ended up eaten by my husband). They were yum! I was so worried that we couldn't finish all the food but it was too delicious to leave them on the table. we finished almost all of them.
The meal ended up being less than 40USD.
Definitely going again if...
Read moreThe newly opened Baba’s Kitchen – Mac Tho Buoi Branch has quickly become a standout spot for authentic Indian dining in Ho Chi Minh City. From the moment you walk in, the interiors feel fresh, inviting, and thoughtfully designed, giving the restaurant a modern yet homely touch.
The real highlight, however, is the food. Every dish served carries the warmth and flavor of home-style Indian cooking, making it comforting and truly satisfying. Whether you’re craving rich curries, freshly made bread, or flavorful rice dishes, the menu captures the essence of authentic Indian taste.
Hospitality here is exceptional. Sebastian ensured everything was seamless and extended the kind of attentive care that makes dining memorable. The service team, including a North Indian staff member, a Mallu staff member, and a Vietnamese staff member, were equally warm, polite, and incredibly sweet—bringing together diversity with genuine hospitality.

Started with the chicken reshmi kebab: soft, tender, unapologetically flavorful, the kind of dish that makes you sit up a little straighter. Then came the dosas—rava and ghee roast—served with chutneys that could hold their own anywhere in South India. On the side, pepper chicken, cooked with the kind of care that turns spice into poetry.
And just when I thought it couldn’t get better, the owner sent out a Kerala parotta—layers of flaky perfection—and a sweet payasam, both on the house.
Authentic, soulful, and deeply satisfying. In the middle of Ho Chi Minh City, I found a slice of India that felt like home. The food’s brilliant, the staff even more so. This is the kind of place you don’t just...
