I need to be frank with what’s going on at this restaurant. I give it a 3 stars because it is passable and you could probably just give this restaurant a single try. Personally, I first visited on 2024 October and I was looking forward to coming again. after the experience on 28 march 2025, I decided that I will most likely never come back again.
Steak was great, well presented and sauce is good. Creme brûlée is delicious.
However there were 2 issues with my experience this time: Prawn appetizer: I attached the photo taken in 2024, October last year. There were 5 prawns, and baguette breads. During my latest visit on 28 march 2025 last week, it only has 4 prawns and NO BREAD now! thanks to the staff, I told her about this and she was polite and gave 2 breads. She claimed that it was because menu change and told me that if I wanted I need to order the bread separately. This is already a poor experience , but I think this is just simply cost cutting, period.
Furthermore, the umami taste of this shrimp dish is no longer tasty in 2025, It was good in 2024. Now it only taste plain salty and no depth of flavours. Maybe the ingredients were not used fresh such as the black pepper could have been stale.
Next, the snickers ice cream had a very icy chocolate Center. I did not want to feedback this during my dining as it is such a chore to have so many red flags during my second dining experience here. The chocolate ice cream Center used to be creamy ice cream but it was very icy this time. It means that the chocolate Center was simply frozen and not churned properly. If the quality is kept consistent, this will be the best dessert in district 1. However after this experience, I do not want to patronise L’entrecote for the third time. There’s many more restaurants nearby for a better quality dessert and food.
Please look into the above issues of cost cutting and poor quality and plan properly. Customers are no fool.
Good point is that the steak is not that bad, creme brûlée is excellent , highly recommended. Mac & cheese was the best I’ve ever eaten and it was perfectly el Dante. But whether the quality of Mac & cheese will be the same for my next visit? I am Not sure and have already lost trust in...
Read moreLast night, I made a reservation for a window-side table at noon, arriving with high anticipation to try the much-talked-about Vietnamese-French cuisine.
For me, the first thing I notice when stepping into a restaurant is the soundscape and the aromas. Being the first guest, it seems the ambiance wasn’t affected by a crowd yet.
I believe the restaurant manager and staff have invested considerable effort and time to craft a refined dining environment, and I can genuinely sense that dedication. For instance, the spacing between tables, the varied shapes of the decor, the spotless corners and windowsills, and the thoughtfully designed restrooms all speak to this care.
Of course, the food is the restaurant’s primary mission, but the warm demeanor of the service staff, their fluent English, and their conversational style of sharing recommendations elevate the experience, allowing diners to enjoy a meal that’s both joyful and distinctive with greater ease.
As for my main course—beef—it was remarkably tender, carrying a subtle charred aroma and hints of herbs. The sweetness shone through more clearly when paired simply with salt. I opted for medium, but it felt slightly overcooked to me; I’d suggest offering a rare option instead!
The beef sauce recommended by the server had a rich, velvety texture, though for my palate, a touch of acidity might enhance the beef’s natural sweetness further.
The dessert—a combination of toffee syrup and nuts—added texture and a deep, sweet, milky flavor to the ice cream and pastry. It wasn’t unforgettable, but it certainly outshines many nearby establishments. If it were up to me, I’d add some crushed biscuit crumbs and a few tart blueberries to balance the richness and keep it from feeling overly heavy...
Read moreWent here as I was craving for steak while in HCM so we found this restaurant and went in to try...
Food: they have a good menu, choices were okay too.. I ordered their 'Prime fillet steak' with french fries and red chimmichurri sauce, while my friend order same steak but with L' entrecote mushroom sauce.. when the steak arrived it was sliced very thin like sashimi, which i really wouldnt do for a steak, temp was not medium rare, and i could not taste any flavor, i wish there was a finishing salt on the side. I had no choice but use table salt. Their french fries looks good in picture but they were as cold as my silver fork and not seasoned as well. I would double fry my frites and sprinkle salt. Anyway, their wine was good, local sparkling water was good and felt like that was the best in the restaurant.
Service: was good, staff were friendly and letting us chose our table. I wish there was someone who was going to tables and asking how the food was..
Atmosphere: was good. Warm and well designed restaurant
Overall, it wasnt good experience in terms of food, i wish i can say it was good but really not. Its not meeting my expectation for french steak restaurant and value for money.. I was still hungry and was already thinking of what nex food to eat as I wasnt really satisfied with the food...
