I really want to like this place. Russia has deep sentimental values to my dad so our family frequent this place (at some point twice to three times a week). We’ve been customers for years and even ordered their catering for Christmas once. The food has always been spot on, but the service has not been improving, if not declining drastically.
The front manager was pushy, condescending and arrogant. More than one occasions, she either pushes us to order the drinks, the expensive caviar, or she’ll tell us to stop ordering cause you’ve ordered enough, like “you can always order more if you want”, but by the time we put our orders in for the next round, everything was all sold out?! It’s fine for the first few times, but when we’re frequent diners, we know how much we eat and what we like, we’ll appreciate a little more respect and privacy when ordering our food. Mind you, I said it to her multiple times that we’ll bag the leftovers to take home but she still wouldn’t let us? One time, she was watching us eat and said “you’re eating it wrong”, because we use steel on caviar? Those little incidents add up and spoiled the mood for us. Her staff was no help at all, especially the young kid wearing glasses. He’s ignored us on multiple occasions, swatted his hands when we tried to get his attention, refused to bring us a fan when our table was getting too warm from being under the stairs, slamming food on the table, etc. I asked my friends and it seems they all had the same experience on different and separate dining experiences here.
Nonetheless, the place is always packed with elder people who went to Russia to study like my dad, and the manager is always nice to them. I hate to think of it as an ageist issue, but could be the gap in the generations.
I like their back story of the owner working hard to support her husband, it’s a touching story that brought us into this restaurant in the first place. I will probably be back, but only because my dad has cravings, and defo not by my own decisions because of the way we’ve been treated here. I cannot say I’d recommend anyone be eating here at all, perhaps place your order to go to avoid all the unpleasant interactions with the front staff.
P.S: one star is for the food, other star is for the security guy downstairs who is always friendly, and we saw him feeding the neighbour’s dog one time, very kind and...

Read moreNot splendid or flashy, Soviet CCCP is peacefully located in a small street in the center of Saigon. A small, rustic 3-storey wooden house appears from pictures of the Moscow suburbs. For many years, CCCP has remained there, quietly and peacefully, even though life is still rolling.
Coming to CCCP, the most favorite dish is grilled lamb, followed by stewed veal with milk cream and grilled chicken drumstick. Do not forget to combine with the sweet taste of Russian wine or Vodka, along with the pungent and sour taste of the salted garlic root is always the most unforgettable aftertaste for many diners. For those who love the rustic, the dried fish astrakhan, salotkhan salted fish, black bread with red radish soup, butter or salted fat typical Russian served with beer will be the perfect choice. CCCP Russian Restaurant has now become a familiar name to many diners. Not only a restaurant to eat and drink, Little Dream is also a place for Russian-loving souls to meet and review memories.
