Firstly, I will not rate food as of yet as I am in the preliminary stages of ordering. I'm waiting on my food after two menu changes. Okay... if you're a Japanese restaurant, you should have tuna! Riiight?
Yeah... so I ordered the sushi special, which has tuna, salmon, mackerel, and other sashimi. Well, three to five mins after my order, the server comes back to me with a menu and says, "we don't have tuna." So, a little unhappy, I decided to keep it cool and say okay well let's please substitute the tuna for mackerel ( or something else -- not important really) but then the servers tells me they don't have that type of fish.
I'm getting really irritated now, so I asked for Hamachi kama... she says we don't have that, so I had to substitute for something else.
The whole point of coming here was to establish sushi/sashimi. Instead, I now have to eat cooked food. Sooooo disappointed and, really, they should be very happy. I'm giving it the couple stars that I am.
If you don't have certain things in stock, I think it's very important to tell people upfront that you don't have a certain thing, not allow the customer to order just to come back to them and tell ya, they have nothing. Smdh.
Okay... let's talk about the restaurant for a bit... very clean, customer service is great: however, when I went upstairs to use the restroom, I found a lot of employees just sitting in their bums doing nothing -- perhaps it's due to not many people here, but if workers want to sit around, they should at least have a rest area for them.
Well my cooked food has come and I'm about to eat.... smh. There's my rant. Please don't be like me... fund somewhere else.
UPDATE
After eating my meal, I will say that the food was delicious. It was on time and everything I expected. Although I was disappointed with menu selections, the friendliness amd courtesy of the staff made up for the lack of menu options.
Would I go again? Well.... yes. I say that cautiously. I would encourage management to inform customers prior to ordering of the choices that are not...
Read more❌ Food is mediocre. I don’t know why other reviewers say this is “the best Japanese restaurant” in Saigon. I’ve been to Japan twice and trust me, it is not worth your money, it’s expensive here. The maguro tuna was sold out too.
When our food finally arrived, we had to wait a long time for someone to get us soy sauce. I waived my hand, a waiter noticed me and then he just WALKED AWAY. Then we discovered we also missed the soy sauce cups, which also took a long time to get. Sushi Tei is better and cheaper.
🐙❌ The tako nigiri (octopus) was very hard to chew and there was a short hair on it (see photo). It took like 10 minutes to get attention from a waiter to get us a new dish.
🥑❌ The avocado rolls were disgusting, they were unripe, hard and tasted bitter which I find very weird for this country since the avocados usually taste amazing.
🍤✅ The california roll (which is actually an ebi fried roll) was pretty decent.
🦀 The grilled kani (crab) miso was good, but small portion.
🍣❌ The salmon sashimi cuts were very small for the price.
🦪❌ The oysters were not sweet and were milky, which I didn’t like.
🍹✅ The drinks are actually good!
The waiters and waitresses are not attentive at all, only the manager. Also not so friendly, seemed like they did not care. I know it is the normal culture in Vietnam, but it’s an expensive restaurant so I expect good service.
Total cost: 1.000.000 dong with 3 drinks.
I absolutely do not recommend coming here. Don’t...
Read moreBad experience of customer service. We booked a room for 11 but they arranged 8 pax only. We accepted to squeeze in but the waitress attitude is the worst. Her name is Mỹ Ny. She seemed really annoyed with our complaint for wrong room. Raising her voice (she’s so loud) so loud to confront with the receptionist about our booking. We all felt ackward and ashamed that she wanted us to confirm that the receptionist told us in advance that the room was small which we can’t. No one give us any notice before arrival. If your customer were right or wrong, just be polite and set up more cutlery. Not just bashing negative attitude towards customers who were about to have an important business lunch. Then, a series of unpleasant service we received. Delay to take order (we rang the bells 7 times) Mỹ Ny served us with negative attitude. Talking via phone with other people not us (again very loud), sat right at the room door (she could just go out, close our room door & talk as much as she wanted). Our boss had to stop talking to wait for her to finish her loud speech. Very bad experience for a business lunch. I could give a praise to another waitress Uyên later taking over to serve our room - VIP 07. She is nice, gentle and attentive. Thank you Uyên very much to save our other half of our lunch time. Food is good but not as always because we lose...
