Well, this was a disappointment. Trip Advisor recommendation and lots of people were good signs but unfortunately the food was very medium. We ordered Bun Bo Hue, Stir Fry Noodles with vegetables, spring rolls and the steamed meat snacks in banana leaves (forgot the name). It was all very bland in taste but the worst part is that we waited really long time for all of it and watched as other people that entered after us got their food and ate it before us! For example there was a couple that came by riksha and the Vietnameese driver ordered food for them, which they got almoat right away as we were observing it while being hungry. It was also difficult to get in contact with the staff, they mostly ignored us. It was busy time but not that busy and we've been to many different places where the service was much much better...
Read moreMy buddies and I stumbled across this place on our way to visit the Imperial Palace. Little did we know it was our lucky day. The owner and her son were super friendly. Her Grandmother opened the restraunt before the war and they still use many of her recipes today. All their dishes were fantastic but make sure to order the fried pancake (Bánh Khoái Nem Lụi) as a starter. It’s her Grandma’s unique way of making it. She showed us old family photos and sent us on our way with a home made bottle opener with the date of our visit. Hundreds of visitors over the years have sent her photos from all over the world of them using her bottle opener in their home town (US, Europe, Australia etc). Great to meet such lovely people. I will send a photo when I’m back in...
Read moreJust passed this place and stopped in as it was on our way to the citadel. Can vouch for the Bánh Loc, Banh Cuon, Mi Xao, banh beo, and ca phe sua da.. One of the owner’s family(?) tried to talk us into a tour while we ate but we told him we’d think about it after finishing food. We came back here to organise the tour with him after being hassled by many others once closer to the citadel and decided this first guy seemed most likeable. Minimal English but this was perfect for us as we aren’t fans of being constantly talked at. Lao and Hung drove us to all the main Hue sights and tombs for a day and it was great on their motorbikes! So glad we did it, they took us to places just before the big tour busses arrived so we got to enjoy the tombs with...
