My buddies and I stumbled across this place on our way to visit the Imperial Palace. Little did we know it was our lucky day. The owner and her son were super friendly. Her Grandmother opened the restraunt before the war and they still use many of her recipes today. All their dishes were fantastic but make sure to order the fried pancake (Bánh Khoái Nem Lụi) as a starter. It’s her Grandma’s unique way of making it. She showed us old family photos and sent us on our way with a home made bottle opener with the date of our visit. Hundreds of visitors over the years have sent her photos from all over the world of them using her bottle opener in their home town (US, Europe, Australia etc). Great to meet such lovely people. I will send a photo when I’m back in California 😎

Just passed this place and stopped in as it was on our way to the citadel. Can vouch for the Bánh Loc, Banh Cuon, Mi Xao, banh beo, and ca phe sua da.. One of the owner’s family(?) tried to talk us into a tour while we ate but we told him we’d think about it after finishing food. We came back here to organise the tour with him after being hassled by many others once closer to the citadel and decided this first guy seemed most likeable. Minimal English but this was perfect for us as we aren’t fans of being constantly talked at. Lao and Hung drove us to all the main Hue sights and tombs for a day and it was great on their motorbikes! So glad we did it, they took us to places just before the big tour busses arrived so we got to enjoy the tombs with relative peace.

This is a family-run restaurant since the 1950s. We were warmly welcomed by 4 of the daughters and their lovely mum, who are taking care of the business: a group of very funny intense women who made us have the best restaurant experience we had in Hue. The food was good, and for a good price- but most of all we laughed a lot! The gals took the time to show us how to eat the food, and told us about their family and the history of the restaurant, but were also happy to just discuss about this and that. They also booked a taxi for us to the airport, who was driven by their younger brother, so it was the full family experience! Our only regret is that we did not meet the 2 remaining siblings and the dad...

We came to this place to try Banh Khoai - the famous Hue crispy pancake. Made of rice flour batter and deep fried, it was served with a side salad and peanut sauce, it really didn't disappoint and in my opinion it's a must try while in Hue as it's a traditional dish in this area of Vietnam. The food was good, but what made our whole experience was the service. The owners were extremely helpful, attentive and funny. The place from the outside doesn't look like anything special at all, but once you sit down I'm sure you won't regret coming to this place, our whole experience was extremely positive!

The original place since 1954! Incredible food and hospitality. We got to know this place thanks to a street food tour we did with a local Vietnamese woman that works as an accountant and does the tours as a part time job! Be aware that the local next door is not the original place, despite what some travel books might say. Just take a look at the picture on the wall from the founders. So great here! As food lovers that we are, I can only recommend this place!

A must visit before or after the Imperial palace. The service was amazing, I learnt how to eat the traditional Hue food there as they will teach you how to roll a rice paper roll and what sauce to go with the dishes you ordered. The food is only cooked upon ordering so you need to be a little patient, the taste is all good. The beer opener is hand-made and given as a souvenir. If you want to experience a homely feeling, it is definitely a place to come. 👍
