Nhà Hàng Lạc Thạnh — Restaurant in Hue City

First thing you see outside of the restaurant is a big sign from TripAdvisor with 4 and half stars. Obviously the tourist only look at the stars and seat down thinking they gonna have a good meal. The food is nothing special whatsoever... I asked for beef with tamarind sauce, 1st no beef, 2nd apparently that dishe was only meat so if you want vegs or rice is extra charged... the worst was when the meat and my extra rice came to the table LITERALLY 3 tiny pieces of Chicken(no beef so I asked chix instead) they looked like 3 tiny chix nuggets from Macdonals and very small plate with equivalent of 3 soup spoons of rice. The tiny pieces of meat they charged 80VND plus 5 for rice. My girlfriend had some vegetables and rice the portion was like baby portion... i don't get it this restaurant. Basically we were starving but paid like we had a feast. Don't bother...

I left a review 2 days ago, had a shrimp beef and egg salad that was EXCELLENT! I feel the need to warn others: there are 2 restaurants, side by side, one named Lac Thanh, the other Lac Thien. They have the same items on the menu, although in a different order. I compared the same item, the salad with shrimp beef and egg at both restaurants and found the salad at Lac Thanh far superior. Really excellent, freshly prepared Hue food from friendly, skilled husband and wife team who live above the shop and cook by where you eat. We stumbled on this one having just used the ATM round the corner one hungry late lunchtime, and had probably our best experience in the city.
