we fell in love with sapa thanks to the staff at de mong! we visited from the US and stayed at de mong for 3 nights. we came in late november in the off season so it felt quite private and relaxed - the rice was all harvested but the mountains were beautiful and picturesque nonetheless. they fed us extremely well and took care of everything for us. every dish was delicious and fresh - we felt like we were in hyori’s homestay the entire time. we loved the herbal leaves trekking tour and bath that they arranged for us! a must do if you are a nature lover. the coffee and tea drinks are incredible. the design is tasteful and elevated. i think this homestay is well worth it. keep in mind it’s located in a somewhat rural village - i wouldn’t expect every amenity, but we were more than satisfied with everything de mong had to offer. it’s healing just to sit on the porch and zone out while staring at the beautiful scenery. plus happy the dog and pam the cat are always there if you need a cuteness boost.
homestay tips: have cash payment for your booking on hand as they can’t take card (if using booking.com) before you get picked up for check in from sapa center, grab a snack beforehand or don’t show up hungry as the staffs cook everything themself and need time to prepare meals for you earplugs may be useful if you are a light sleeper. there isn’t much sound insulation so if your neighbors snore, you might want some earplugs at night don’t hesitate to ask for anything you need via whatsapp. the family and staff that runs de mong is very accommodating and happy to take care of you. we were a bit shy to ask for a heater, but they provided one as soon as we spoke up! the herbal leaves trekking tour and bath is a must! may and her mom san may are so knowledgeable about the local plants and surroundings. we learned so much from them and cherished our time with may! if you are able to drive a scooter, we would highly recommend renting one. we were able to freely roam back and forth from sapa center to the village areas and it’s much more efficient than calling a taxi
thank you de mong staff! we had the best time and we will see...
Read moreStaying at De Mong was an unforgettable experience that beautifully combined comfort with authentic Vietnamese culture. Nestled among expansive terraced rice fields, the homestay offers breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere, making it an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The place is really new, and its architecture blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings. The rooms are well-equipped with all the necessary amenities, ensuring a comfortable stay. One unique feature that stood out was the insect-catching lamp in the room, which was particularly useful given the natural setting.
The hosts were incredibly welcoming and went out of their way to ensure I had everything I needed for a pleasant stay. Their warmth and hospitality made me feel like part of their family rather than just another guest. One of the owners had beautiful photo-taking skills, and talking to him and hearing about his aspirations amazed me. It added a personal touch to the stay and made the experience even more memorable. The dog Happy and the cat Pam were really cute and friendly to customers, adding to the homely feel.
Meals were another highlight of my stay. The food and drinks were freshly prepared with locally sourced ingredients, offering an authentic taste of Vietnamese cuisine right at your dining table.
While the room had only a small window and no air conditioning, which made it a bit stuffy and hot during midday in the summer, and the homestay could get a bit noisy when the café area was crowded, these things did not significantly detract from my overall enjoyment.
For those seeking an escape from bustling city life and wanting to connect with nature while enjoying warm hospitality, this homestay is undoubtedly one of the best places to...

This place is the perfect stay, we loved every single moment of our stay here! De Mong is a beautiful Homestay near Sapa run by the sweetest family!
We spent 3 nights here and the price was fantastic! The Homestay has stunning views of the rice fields you won’t get anywhere else in the world! We loved waking up each morning and being greeted by their beautiful, friendly dog named Happy and the most adorable cat Pam!
The food was delicious, honestly the best food we’ve had in Vietnam! It’s so fresh and authentic Vietnamese cooking! It’s also a very great price!
On our third day here we went for a walking tour we booked through the Homestay! Lia, a woman from a local village took us up into the mountains, through a bamboo forest, into a local village and through the rice fields! We even got a delicious lunch after all the walking!
In the evenings we would sit outside and watch the most beautiful sunset over the rice fields as the farmers finished working for the day!
The homestay is beautiful, the views are stunning and the food is delicious but it’s the kind people who own and run De Mong that truly make this stay unforgettable! I feel like we have beautiful new friends from Sapa and can’t wait to comeback and stay at De Mong for even longer! We didn’t want to leave! De Mong and the owners now hold a special place in our hearts and we’ll remember them and our time there forever!
Thank you...
