Do not waste your time here as the staff are dishonest. I am not the only person in town who has been scammed by this place. The food is tasty but they scam you of money. They switch out 100,000 bills for 10,000 bills and say that you made a mistake. The first time I was scammed, I knew I counted the money correctly when I paid, but decided to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and come back again. The second time I ate here, I only brought 100,000 bills (and no 10k bills) in my wallet to make sure I couldn’t make any mistake when I paid. When it came to pay, the staff again said that the amount was ok and waited until I left the room before chasing after me and telling me the same thing she told me during my last visit - that actually I had given her a 10k bill instead of 100k…..She forgot she scammed me the day prior. This time I politely asked her to get the manager to try and resolve the situation. The manager did not try and resolve the situation and instead just told me to pay more money.
EDIT: I give my consent for you to release that video. It will only incriminate your staff and yourself for theft. I have never been impolite to any restaurant staff in my life. Threatening customers with arrest after stealing from them is not...
Read moreWe came here for dinner on our first evening in Ta Van, and it was a great experience. Yes, the food took a little while, but that’s understandable—it seems like a small place with just one woman running the kitchen. And when the food finally arrived, it was absolutely delicious!
I especially recommend the rice bowl, which felt like a Japanese-inspired take on a taco bowl—filled with rice, corn, avocado, tomato, red cabbage, and both soft and crispy seaweed, adding a super tasty and unique flavor. The portion was actually quite filling, even though it didn’t seem that big at first glance.
We also tried the salad bowl, which was tasty but a bit small, and the Japanese curry, which was amazing—thick, creamy, and packed with flavor, with sweet potato and other root vegetables.
Most dishes were around 80k, which is definitely pricier than the average meal in Vietnam but pretty standard for Ta Van. At this place, though, it felt worth it.
The interior and exterior design were superb—super boho, chic, and a little cottagecore. The outdoor balcony also offered a gorgeous mountain view, but be sure to bring warm clothes if you’re dining in the evening, as it...
Read moreWe loved this place! First thing you need to know though, this is not a full on restaurant operation. It's one or two people cooking in their home kitchen. So it may take a bit longer but it's totally worth it. Plus, you can enjoy the beautiful views on the terrace while you wait.
Our favourite dish was the eggplant. We had it 3 times during our 3 days at their homestay. We also loved the local vegetable salad (we recommend booking this ahead of time because it takes at least 30min to prepare) and the tofu in spicy sauce.
They've also been super accommodating with meals for our 1-year-old son, adjusting herbs and spices, salt usage or cut things differently for him. An absolute dream for parents travelling with a toddler!
So yeah, would...
