Absolutely loved Wild Beast - Ta Van. I stayed in the nearby homestay, Lazy Crazy, for a few days and came to Wild Beast every day. We were super drawn to Wild Beast from the outset — and only after our first visit did we find out our homestay and the bar were owned by the same person!
Wild Beast has a great atmosphere, really nice folk music playing in the background, and the staff are lovely and friendly. There's a crowd of local regulars and a very international community who go there, so it was an awesome way to get to meet people who know the area intimately. While we were there, Wild Beast had a wicked Open Mic night, which felt very inclusive and everyone got involved, so make sure you check them out for local events. There are musical instruments around (e.g. piano, guitar, cajon/box drum) which the owners, who are musical themselves, are very happy for you to have a go on.
Re: food and drinks: There's a great selection of warm and hot alcoholic beverages, as well as warm and hot non-alcoholic beverages. They offer a home-made plum wine which is delicious. They don't serve food, but they are connected to a restaurant next door whom you can order from, and who'll drop you in food inside Wild Beast.
One more thing: Wild Beast is open to the elements, so bring a jacket if...
Read moreYou would NEVER think that in the middle of this podunk rice village is a bar that could be fit for a James Bond movie! It's just amazing how vibey this place is. You can listen to 60s-70s rock all night with this amazing sound system they have. If you play your cards right, you can request songs too - have you heard Riders on the Storm by the Doors in Vietnam? Now THAT's a vibe. You can drink (very cheap!) cocktails too. Some of the cocktails even have herbs taken straight from the garden. I was just awestruck. Everything is made out of wood and is 100% instagrammable. The bartender is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and speaks great English too. Since the village is so quiet, you might be the only customer there for the entire night if it's the off-season. But that just adds to the flavor, doesn't it? This place is unforgettable. I really want to go...
Read moreThis place is truly magnificent. It has the right placement, with a stunning view, it has a cool vibe, with board games to enjoy at any time at the day and the nicest couble that drive the place. We got the best ice coffe in all of Vietnam here. The owner made it himself, and was the nicest man. We where here for hours, just because the spirit and atmosphere of this place is so relaxing and you are therefore forced to go down in gear and have a peacefull and good mindset.
Just next door, there is a resturant where they make delicious food at very good prices, which we got served in the Wild Beast cafe. The combination of the two, make this a must go when you are around the north of Vietnam. The coffe was so good we bought a bag of it, we will bring home with us to Denmark. Thanks to both places for our expericenes here. Lots of...
