Although it was a dismal rainy day in downtown Vancouver when my daughter and I were visiting mid May, these laughing sculptures brightened it up immensely. Located in Morton Park (Davie and Denman) along the English Bay, these 14 bronze statues depict the artist’s own image in hysterical laughter. An inscription carved into the cement seating reads, ”May this sculpture inspire laughter playfulness and joy in all who experience it.” While we were there, this installation was indeed enjoyed by all. Kids were playing on them, selfies were taken by young and old alike and everyone was smiling and laughing. We need more installations like this one in the world. This installation marked the beginning of our walk around Stanley Park.

I just love these 14 laughing statues. Do I look like them? Not quite, but I believe many cheeky and mischievous young boys do laugh and make faces like them. Some do look like they are being tickle at their armpits. Whatever they depict, I do find them not just a-maze-ing, but also very very a-muse-ing, indeed. For those who have no funny bones, and do not find them funny, Boy-oh-Boy, they don't know what they miss out in life, because "Laughter is the best medicine". 2020 has been a very tough year for most people around the world. I think we can do with having them in our neighbourhood gardens or parks, so that we can visit them when we are down and out.

Chinese artist Yue Minjun at Morton Park on English bay, give your vacation, weekend trip or day tour, a great opportunity to have some fun pictures , create new memes, memories or work on your project work for school. We loved it and appreciated his work as it gave us the opportunity to give our "inner child" some much needed play time. Loved every second of it and hoping next summer to refresh some memories made.NO one said anything when we took a swing on the arms set our dog in the massive hands, made faces at the figures or imitated the figures. The shared fun with everyone, even strangers was making it to a playground of acting for every age.

A-maze-ing Laughter at English Bay is such a delightful and fun spot! This collection of 14 playful, larger-than-life sculptures of people laughing is impossible to miss. Each sculpture captures a moment of pure joy and energy, bringing a sense of lightness to the area. The sculptures were created to celebrate the therapeutic power of laughter and encourage people to embrace happiness. It's sure to brighten your day. A must visit.

Such a cute and funny art installation out in English Bay! My husband and I had a lot of fun taking photos imitating the artist’s facial expressions and body language. There’s always people here so if you want photos with no one in the background, the best time to go is in the morning before 10:00. We noticed that people tend to start their days a little later or they have already started their day early if they’re heading to the mountains. People also stay out pretty late in the summers since the sun doesn’t set until after 9:30 p.m. Have fun!
