Update: I wrote this review in all honesty hoping that the owner will respond positively and professionally. However the owner responded to my review on a social media forum with a lot of negativity and tried to portrait my experience as a fake review done to favour his competitors and hurt his business.... This kind of behaviour should be totally unacceptable. It is very clear that the owner is only interested in candy coated fairy tale type of reviews and doesn't want to hear or improve upon any shortcomings highlighted. In light of this I don't think they even deserve 3 stars so I am reducing my rating to 1 star because zero is not an option here.
Original review: So after opening of Vonns in downtown a few months ago and we wanting to visit ever since, we finally did last night and here's my rather lengthy and impartial review
Minor incident- and I promise my opinion is not affected by this. Before walking in with family I decided to go and check and if they had a table to accomodate a family of six. I waited for a few moments at the reception but no one appeared so I (wearing a mask) headed in towards the counter to be told rather rudely by a server (who was standing on a side) to go back to the door, so I complied. He took my temperature and asked me to sign in using the qr code and then finally allowed me to talk. Upon asking he confirmed that they can accomodate a family of six. In we go...
Ambiance- and decor at this place is very welcoming and well planned especially given the small space. Seating is comfortable and everything feels clean. The space is unlike most typical halal desi/mideast eateries.
Food- is the best part here. I ordered their classic beef burger($13) and rest of my family opted for the chicken burgers($13). The beef burger is really good with some of the best meats I have tasted and salads inside compliment the overall taste. The chicken burgers are HUGE, some of the biggest I have ever seen. Two huge breaded chicken breasts along with lots of other stuff! It was amazing to look at and gets you excited but then you think how am I going to eat this leaning tower of Pisa? When you start eating it, you realise it's a total mess, heal of the bun is totally soaked by the coleslaw they add and uh ok I'll stop here... I did take a bite and the chicken tasted amazing which despite being breast wasn't dry and there was no double breading to increase the volume! I wish they had an option for a chicken burger with one patty otherwise take my advice and this is what we'll do next time, ask for the second chicken patty on the side. Optional $4 to add fries and drink is totally worth it and we also added another fries for $4 extra. The portions of fries are huge and seasoning and crispiness of the fries deserves 10/10
Customer service- at this place imo is a total miss! Don't get me wrong, they take your order, put the food on the table and bring you the bill, but that's it. There is no greeting upon arrival, no smiling, no friendliness, no follow up, no kind gestures for kids and not even a 'good bye see you again' formality when leaving. They didn't even take the card machine back and I dealt with printing the customer's copy myself! It was one of those places where I ever regretted tipping for the 'service'
A big thumbs down we noticed is the absence of restrooms in this place. It is unacceptable (even if legal) to seat 15+ customers in a highly touristy area without a basic facility. I literally had to walk my daughter across the street to chicken world (much love to their kindness) to use the washroom!
So in a nutshell Vonns for us is a major restaurant quality food, with fast food size and service but pleasant space and with a major restaurant price tag. We will do it again because of their food with a hope to see an improvement in their soft...

Read moreI ordered pickup through Door Dash who advertised a buy one get one free smash burger. This promotion was available and advertised to me while in "pickup" mode in the Door Dash app. I pressed on the button for the special promotion, checked out and headed to Vonn's to pick up my order. Upon arriving, there was only one burger and when I said there should be a second one (the free one) they told me the promotion is not available for pickup orders. When I showed them the Door Dash app advertising the promotion for pickup orders, they basically told me to take it up with Door Dash. This really bothers me because Vonn's is the business who has the contractual relationship with Door Dash and their name is attached to the promotion so where is the accountability? I insisted that I had been baited into this promotion and it fully allowed me to click on and pay for the promotion so they needed to honor it. The manager refused to provide me with the second burger and instead told me to wait while she called Door Dash. I stood there for over 30 minutes awkwardly by the front door waiting. She came back and showed me the fine print on the Door Dash website stating that the promotion was for pickup orders only. That's fine, but the problem is that the deal was advertised to me in pickup mode in the app and I was able to click on it and pay for it without any indication that I wouldn't actually be getting the free second burger. She wouldn't budge at all, so I was forced to order and pay for a second burger. My first burger had now been sitting for well over 30 minutes so I asked for her to remake it and she did. It was absolutely shocking to me that she had no problem throwing my first burger in the trash and re-making it and yet wouldn't have just added on the second free burger I was entitled to from the beginning. The outcome here was that Vonn's was out a burger because of the one they threw in the trash, I still had to pay for the second burger, the manager wasted about 30 minutes of her time calling Door Dash and I left very unhappy. The manager should have been empowered to just give me the second burger from the start. I'm sure that they will comment on this that it is Door Dash's fault because that is the world we live in now, but I think businesses need to do better and take accountability when its their name on it. I'm so disappointed because these are literally the best burgers I've ever had, but will now be tainted by this experience. And I find myself equally, if not more, disappointed with Vonn's than Door Dash because I would expect the shadiness from Door Dash but I would have expected Vonn's to step up and...
