Canning Districts Social Club — Attraction in Cannington

Well what can I say. Second time to try out this place for friendly dancing. First time visit was shoved off the floor by a couple who needed half the floor and the line dancers took over the rest all night, all night line dancing whether the band was playing or the line dancing music came on when band had a rest. Tried again recently and was spoken to rudely on the floor then pushed off the floor for dancing in the wrong place. Something to do with rules. Rules at a social dance. The line dances take over the floor all night. We were taught to have floor manners and floor craft. And dancers dancing a lovely waltz, quickstep, slow rhythm, new vogue, sequence dance around the outside of the floor in one direction. Tried to do a nice quickstep and was yelled at by a rude woman who was taking up the outside area just bopping and not allowed anywhere near the line dancers area because that's the Rules. Absolutely horrible to say the least. Our friends were there the first time and they got bumped badly just doing a nuce slow rhythm. They left immediately and never went back. I will never go back to this hostile ruled based unfriendly place. And where I was sitting a guy rudely had his arm hung over the chair & everytime I got up to dance he got upset as I had to excuse myself to get past his chair & elbow. So if it's the dancers being graded and where you are allowed on the floor. You had better introduce a fee for each grade. Line dancers $20.00 Boppers $15.00. Others who love ballroom, Latin, new vogue, jive rock n roll shoved down the back of the room squashed near the bar, $5.00. Will let all my friends, family and many dancers know what...

I have enjoyed many Saturday and Sunday nights of safe and classy fun. The hours cater for all generations, being reasonable for people who have responsibilities in life, with everyone leaving by 11pm.

This is a people's club. The members, management and regular attendees know each other well and work great together. People are known, friendly, cared about and celebrate life together in chosen traditions. This is a rare gem in Perth that is protected, treasured and appreciated. Those who don't fit in with this don't belong here.

The music is how it should be when listening and dancing. Live bands playing timeless classics with lyrics about love and realities of enjoying life with a great beat and talented singers.

The bar has the personal service of a people's social club. The drinks are fairly priced, being affordable for all people. 8pm is hot food time. The kitchen volunteers provide yummy food to keep up going!

Came to the club with friends wanting to have a good time. While sitting at our table we overheard one of the female members of the club who has short white hair speaking rudely and loudly to the band members. To us it felt like she was speaking loud enough for everyone to hear. Not very professional and not nice for guests to hear. Throughout the night she was complaining about the volume of the music but to everyone else that I spoke to it sounded fine. It made my friends and I very uncomfortable and felt bad for the band as they were absolutely wonderful. Won't be returning as I don't support this type of behaviour but will follow the band elsewhere.
