Horrible service!!! 😡😡😡 Average food and EXTREMELY rude and horrible staff.
My family and I decided to try this place for the first time today because we kept seeing the traction it got. Upon waiting to be seated, the staff started talking to us in Mandarin, expecting us to understand. When we said we did not speak it, she dropped her "nice" attitude, took us to our seats and left us.
No one showed us what to do, but that was fine because it was simple to understand (choose your ingredients, put them in the bowl to be weighted for price and pick your broth to be cooked with the ingredients). However, there were some ingredients we didn't know, so I asked another staff member. This one didn't even talk to us, she just pointed to the name and expected us to know what it was.
When it came to paying, the lady at the counter spoke to us in Mandarin (yet another staff expecting us to speak the language). THIS lady became extremely rude and cold, as soon as we spoke in English. When we asked what broths there were to choose from, she acted like we were stupid, expecting us to know straight away.
I was downright worried that they were going to delay or do something to our food because it seemed like the entire staff did not like us at all, based on the fact we didn't speak Mandarin. Something to note was that I witness them treating Asians who can speak Mandarin and non-Asians differently. Helpful and kind, showing them what to do etc. TOTAL opposites to how they were treating us.
This whole thing made me mad enough thinking about it to write my first review. People should NOT be treated this way especially in a freaking "restaurant" in Carousel of all places.
The food was average at best with the broth being very salty. Luckily we didn't get food poisoning like I've read some people getting. We will not be coming here again. Stay away unless you want to risk/try it. (I recommend going to Asian shops to buy the same ingredients for cheaper and chuck them in a pot to eat at home. Bad service is not worth it for an average meal. Spend your money elsewhere).
Key points: All staff expecting you to speak Mandarin if you are Asian. If you do not, they will treat you rudely compared to others Staff expecting you to know what to do and what things are Average food and very salty broth with a chance of food poisoning Just go...
Read moreI'm giving it 4 stars because the food is good but it needs some improvements. It's like a frozen yoghurt place where you pick whatever ingredients you want and they charge you by weight. There is a minimum $20 charge so pick enough ingredients to make that minimum amount to make it worth it.
You then mix your own sauces to flavour the hot pot. I like it hotter so I add more sichuan pepper and chilli oil while others used more soy, garlic and sesame sauce/paste. The combination is endless.
There are a lot of vegetables so the vegetarians and vegans a lot of options in terms of ingredients. They are labelled but I noticed a few ingredients are placed under the wrong label. It would be an idea to just have sections that are completely vegan/vegetarian so it reduces confusion.
There are some areas that could be improved. The first thing is the frequency of ingredients being replaced. Some ingredients are replaced quicker than others so patrons might have to either wait a while or make do without.
The second thing is the cutlery. There are lots of chopsticks but the spoons are few and far between. Fortunately they have plastic spoons that can be used in a pinch but that leads to more wastage.
All in all, it's a nice place to go for hotpot, especially if you're picky about...
Read moreI am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the poor customer service I experienced at your store last night.
When a female staff member served the hot pot between my wife and daughter, I expressed my concern that it was unsafe and requested that she serve the food from the side instead. She argued that it was the shorter path and insisted that she had already said “Excuse me.” I explained that it was still unsafe, as spilling hot soup could have very serious consequences. Despite this, she continued to argue that her actions were correct. When I asked for her name, she refused to provide it. I then requested to speak with the store manager, and she stated that she was the person in charge. Other staff later confirmed that she was indeed in charge that evening, but they also refused to provide her name.
I found her attitude extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. Such behavior not only reflects poorly on her but also damages the reputation of your store. Please note that I would be reluctant to dine at your establishment again if she were on duty.
I hope you will take this matter seriously and address the issue appropriately to ensure other customers do not have to go through a...
