One of the newer additions to Perth. Did I mention that I love bridges? I was so excited when I spotted this one from the distance and knew I had to come by and take some shots. The architecture is amazing and I love the black and white theme. The zip line is a fantastic idea and climbing up was actually half the fun! The bridge isn't very long and it's ideal for a nice stroll and for bikers to cross the river as well. The view from the bridge is nice and provided a good vantage point to both sides of the river. As you can see, I popped by here during the day.and took some amazing shots on the contrasting black and white against the clear blue sky. However, I would love to come by for a night shot as I bet the lighting would be amazing. Alas, I am off to the airport that same evening so it would have to wait till the next time I am in town!

An incredible bridge and really sets off Perth and the Optus Stadium and puts us on the world map. Love the lights at night on the bridge and Stadium. Only thing I would suggest is maybe asking people on bicycles to Dismount when crossing the bridge. It is certainly a very wide bridge and plenty of room however lots of cyclists are not using the bells and because it is not like a foot path with a left and right and there are people walking in all directions I have seen some people knocked off their bikes and also knocking people over when walking. That is my only criticism otherwise a fantastic bridge and definitely well worth going for a walk along the bridge and exploring the Optus Stadium and the Camfield pub whilst you're there.

I was asked by Activate Perth to be one of the 300 volunteers to go across the, fabulous Matagarap Bridge recently. I was in the second Group who tested the bridge on the Monday afternoon after blindly stumbling around the huge Crown and Optus area trying to find the start Group, phew! I eventually arrived in the parking area which was especially set aside for us on my scooter, which i must add was the only scooter in this huge paddock of parked cars! Not a good look, Perth. Ah well we love walking and biking here big time and this beautiful Matagarap Bridge will only add to our experience while traversing the fab City of Perth! Named in honour of our Indigenous Brothers and Sisters...

Whats not to love or admire about this beautiful art piece? This is such a gorgeous bridge, it is soley a pedestrian bridge, so no traffic. It crosses you over to the Optus Stadium. At night it lights up with colours, I wish I took more videos of it when it was lit up. The black side of the bridge blends in the with night sky and only the white part (that lights up) is exposed, making the bridge look even more cooler at night. So creative! Perth is such an artistic city. It took maybe less than 4mins to walk across it. You can see Optus Stadium in its glory as you walk across, the view of the lake is very pretty. It is a very romantic bridge in my opinion.

Took the yellow CAT from the city for a walk at the Mardalup Park and walked across the Matagarup Bridge towards the Optus stadium. Beautiful views from here-the sunset looks amazing! You have zip+climb activities as well. The zip line hasn't commenced yet I guess. You can find 2 seating areas in the centre of the bridge -either ends. Watched a few people climb up to the top, latched on to a secure line along the steps. Beautiful design with the concept explained on the display. Towards the display you can hear stories of the natives playing in the background.

The bridge is a new pedestrian footbridge that goes over from East Perth to the Optus Stadium. It is accessible from the riverside walkway on East Perth. Bridge itself is quite wide so can get lots of people across. It also leads to the entrance of the stadium. Nice views of the river and both side of Perth from the river. Nice place for a leisurely walk if there aren't many people on it.
