Kiama Blowhole is a natural wonder and a must-visit attraction for anyone traveling to the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia. The blowhole is located in the town of Kiama, approximately 120 km south of Sydney. It is a natural rock formation that produces a spectacular water spout when ocean waves enter a narrow sea cave and force water up through a vent in the rocks. The water can spout up to 25 meters in the air, creating a stunning sight and a loud roar that can be heard from a distance. The blowhole is most impressive during high tide and when there are strong winds and waves. The surrounding area of the Kiama Blowhole is also very scenic, with stunning views of the ocean and rocky coastline. There are several walking trails and lookout points that provide excellent photo opportunities, as well as picnic areas and a playground for families with children. Visiting the Kiama Blowhole is a unique and memorable experience that is suitable for all ages. The attraction is easily accessible and free of charge, making it a great option for budget-conscious travelers. However, it can get quite crowded during peak tourist season, so it's best to plan your visit accordingly.

Every so often, nature likes to show off, and Kiama Blowhole is the perfect place to see it. Kiama's famous Blowhole is the largest in the world, and when the swell is running from the southeast, you're in for a real treat. The 2.5 metres opening in the rock face has had its plumes of water recorded at heights of over 30 metres! With multiple accessible viewing platforms, the blowhole can be seen from multiple vantage points, be sure to check out the most eastern point to take in the full height of the rock formation. This landmark has attracted people to the region for over 100 years, and the first sightings were recorded by George Bass when he anchored his whaleboat in the sheltered bay, now known as Kiama Harbour, in December 1797. It is now estimated to attract 900,000 visitors each year. Only a short distance from the town centre and railway station, the Kiama Blowhole has picnic and parking areas, with a rock pool nearby. Public toilets are always open, and there is a cafe located next to the Kiama Visitor Information Centre.

Few hours drive from Sydney, lies this beautiful natural wonder. The drive to Kiama is quite scenic. You can also travel by a train to kiama. We reached in the afternoon. The blow hole was at its best when it was a bit windy and when sea became a bit rough. When its not windy may be you have to wait to see the phenomenon. The view near the blowhole is spectacular. There is a huge parking lot and lush green garden and trees on one side to rocky cliffs on the other.Plan for a picnic and enjoy. On Sunday there was a local market. You can have a look at some stuffs. There are benches under trees facing the sea and you can enjoy with your family. If you wanna click pics from the cliff be a little careful.Though lots of people climb up,there is a risk factor involved.Specifically be careful with your kids. And yes we were lucky to see lots of dolphin having a nice time which was an icing on the cake.If travelling from Sydney, its a one day trip as it takes almost 3 hours of travel.

Located at Blowhole Point, Kiama, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺. A definite MUST when visiting Kiama, if you go when the conditions are right, the blowhole will put on a great show for you. Kiama’s Blowhole is the largest in the world, there are multiple accessible viewing platforms making it possible for the blowhole to be seen from various vantage points. If the conditions are not right for the blowhole to be active, you can still have the stunning views and the lighthouse to view. Either way, it’s highly recommended and I am certain you won’t regret the visit. Other photo opportunities is the Kiama Lighthouse which is situated right next to the Blowhole. This lighthouse dates back to 1887. There’s toilet facilities at the visitors centre a little down the hill and plenty of parking or it’s a pretty nice walk from Kiama town centre if you feel like it. This is a very popular tourist attraction with thousands of visitors each year. It’s well worth a visit.

The Kiama Blowhole is a stunning natural attraction and a must-visit if you’re in the area! The sheer power of the water shooting up through the blowhole is mesmerizing, especially on days with strong waves. The views of the coastline are breathtaking, and there are plenty of spots to take beautiful photos. There’s ample parking nearby and easy access with pathways leading to the viewing platforms. It’s a great spot for a picnic, and the nearby cafes add to the charm of the place. Make sure to check the tide times for the best blowhole experience—higher tides seem to offer a more dramatic display. Perfect for a family day out or even a solo visit to enjoy the natural beauty of Kiama.
