Jack's Magazine is controlled and operated by Heritage Victoria. Dating back to the late 1800s the site was a bonded store for black powder and later other explosives right up to the 1960's. The site has remnants of tramways and remnants of a canal outside giving a glimpse of how material was moved around the site. There are two main magazines which are within depressions to limit the disaster should one of the stores have exploded. The magazine buildings are intriguing blue stone construction of amazing workmanship. I'd love to live in one of these because even on the hottest days they're cool inside. The tour guides are friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. Many of whom have worked on the site when it was active. There are interpretive displays in the final building.
