These gardens are absolutely stunning - there's such a wide variety of plants and spaces throughout, and all of them are so beautiful.

My partner and I got engaged on one of the punt boats on the lake, got married here in 2022, and have been back many times since for picnics, day trips with visiting friends, and for the Lightscape events in 2024 and 2025. No matter what, the gardens are always beautiful and it's always a lovely time out.

The punt boats on the lake are a really nice way to see the gardens from a different angle, and the guides are incredibly knowledgeable and kind. If you're lucky you might even get close to the swans.

The Parks Vic event team we organised our wedding with were also very kind, they had great communication and were extremely clear in letting us know the rules and offering suggestions to help the day go smoother. They did a great job of reserving the little Taxodium Lawn for us without roping it off entirely or doing anything that might interrupt the beautiful view of the lake for everyone else, and the general public were really respectful and watched from a polite distance.

The photos turned out even better than we could have imagined (big thank you to The Hogans Photography for that!). Every single space throughout the gardens provided a different kind of backdrop, but they're all so beautiful.

The paths are nice and wide, so even when there's a big event on like Lightscape, it rarely feels too crowded. Seeing the trees and plants lit up in the different colours provides a fun new perspective. I did think the range of light experiences was better last year than it was this year, but overall it was still well...
