Walking the Ring at the Brick Pit: History and Views from Above The walk around the elevated ring at the Brick Pit offers a unique and surprisingly engaging experience. This isn't your typical nature trail; instead, you're strolling along a well-maintained path that encircles the fascinating remnants of the old brickworks below. The highlight of this walk is undoubtedly the perspective it provides. From this elevated vantage point, you get a comprehensive view of the brick pit's ruins – a tangible piece of history laid out before you. It's captivating to observe the old structures and imagine the activity that once filled this space. The "large ring in the sky," as it's aptly described, makes for a straightforward and pleasant walk. The path is generally level and wide, making it accessible for most fitness levels. It's a great way to stretch your legs and get some fresh air while taking in a truly unique landscape. While not a traditional scenic hike through lush greenery, the Brick Pit walk offers a different kind of beauty – the beauty of industrial archaeology and the stories it tells. It's a chance to connect with the past and appreciate the transformation of this space. If you're looking for a walk with a difference, offering historical intrigue and interesting views, the Brick Pit ring walk is well worth a visit.

I recently visited the Brickpit Ring Walk at Sydney Olympic Park, and it turned out to be an unexpected highlight. This elevated walkway loops around the fascinating remnants of an old brick manufacturing site, offering a rare glimpse into the area's industrial history. The walkway is well-maintained, flat, and accessible, making it perfect for all fitness levels. Walking around the ring, I appreciated both the informative historical signage and the unique perspective on the brick pit ruins below. It's intriguing to visualise the bustling activity that once defined this space, now transformed into a tranquil wetland. Adding to the charm are the sounds of frogs, which underscore the site's rebirth as a protected habitat, particularly for the endangered Green and Golden Bell Frog. The glass panels along the walkway provide great views and photo opportunities. Though not a lengthy walk, it's ideal for a quick, relaxing escape, blending history, nature, and urban renewal. Parking can be tricky during events at Olympic Park, but overall, this is a unique, worthwhile experience I’d recommend checking out.

It’s not a long walking track like other trails in NSW, but it’s good. It is an urban nature park and walkway that serves as a water storage and frog habitat, located in the Bicentennial Park, in the Sydney Olympic Park, in western Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Once a brick manufacturing site, the land was to be redeveloped as part of the site for the 2000 Sydney Olympic and Paralympic Games, however the 1992 discovery of the then endangered Green and Golden Bell Frog (Litoria aurea) placed a hold on developments. The urban nature park and walkway was established in 2006. Loved it. You can read all about it on Wikipedia plus there are some information board on the ring. You can read the history from there.
